Re: MPR++ v0.2.6c open for alpha testing
Hi there, very happy to see on checking the site today that you have made such excellent progress and work on a new 3D engine for BOTF. Myself and my childhood friends still play this game avidly. We would be very interested in testing the new Alpha, could you please arrange a link for us to do so and we will give as much feedback as possible to help you with the development.
Very excited!!!!!
Many thanks in Advance

out of curiosity what's happening with boft? Are any updates planned for this mod or others? Or is all work being plowed into the devolpment of supremacy/boft 2? (sorry if this was not the right area to post this)

Re: MPR++ v0.2.6c open for alpha testing
Is there anything I could help with? I am completely inept when it comes to programming and im living in china which rules out learning (since its difficult enough to talk to people about normall things let alone programming). But im alright using that ue and ive got time to do writing and testing stuff out.

Re: MPR++ v0.2.6c open for alpha testing
Thanks for the offer. Once the plugin system is ready one thing of great help will be xml scripting all the patch files. Xml really doesn't involve any programming knowledge but it would help to understand some on botf modding as there are loads of great articles that could be transferred to xml patches or data labelling.foz wrote:Is there anything I could help with?
It would be great to have a complete library some time. Xml patches will work similar to QD's patcher so that one would be a great start to learn.
Beside that for mpr++ and mods there's lots of artistic work one can do. And when interested you could start work on a chinese translation for the game, although for now there is no chinese character set support and I'm not sure how to hack it yet, might require an UI system replacement.
Further I can't believe learning to program is that much more difficult in china. It's all technical stuff and china absorbs what they can on technical stuff.
Plus I myself learned just from experience and some reading too, and had no mentionable help either. It's rather a dedication to start learning it. And I'm always happy to share my knowledge. The start is struggling but you're for sure not inept, that's just a common excuse when something becomes exhausting (and without a strong dedication learning to program for sure is).
Get yourself familar with modding botf and I'm sure you'll find ways to help.
Re: MPR++ v0.2.6c open for alpha testing
I'm sure it's easy to learn in China, since they do love to hack the Americans. ITt's only more difficult for me because I don't speak the language im here on work, so taking classes is out. Also a large amount of websites are blocked from my area. I say inept because I have no idea where to start. I'll look at quaser donkeys patch thingy. Any other pointers on reading material from the site?

Re: MPR++ v0.2.6c open for alpha testing
well for c++ check http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/ or http://en.cppreference.com/w/ and either get CodeBlocks with mingw from http://www.codeblocks.org or Visual Studio Express 2013 with Update 4 for Windows Desktop from http://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/downl ... -studio-vs
can't believe that's all blocked but if it is for sure there are other sources
good sources here on the site you find in the "Structured Modding Index" over here: viewforum.php?f=49
