MrD

Thanks for the extra links to D5 Pics.

When I first saw Emperor I thought it looked like a big ugly D7 and this makes sense if it's a kind of stretch limo version of D7.

Not sure if I want to draw it, but if there's a need I would consider it.

Just a little point. Thunderchero asked you to keep images down to 800 pixels wide. I've noticed that after you post images I need a screen half a kilometer wide to read all of the text. Any chance of an edit so I can read my screen in comfort.

It seems to screw up everyone's posts, not just yours.

Sorry to ask, just thought I'd bring it to your attention.

**second edit** that loophole part refers to the fact that the D5 reference for the TOS era comes from the fact that an old almost senile Klingon warior called his ship (the Klothos) a D5, although the Klothos doesn't look anything like a D5
Don't mind too much what the ship is called, if we have a nice looking Klingon ship from Enterprise that everyone's happy to use, I'll go with it.

Taken care of, thank you.
In this case it was not only the size of the pics, but the quantity I guess, too many pics in a row.

If it's a nice ship, sure why not.
I guess if you want to make the D5 you will have to get rid of some elements like the external struts and the weapons turrets or the poly count is going to go through the roof. :)

Well the big problem has always been that most ships made for either the Klingons or the Feds were either kitbashes (Saladin, P'Tolemny) or some kind of deformed variants (D5, F5 from SFB, Royal Sovereign from STSSTCS)

I always thought the Emperor stood out a little with the quad nacelle arrangement, gives the ship a "muscle" look :)

I've just searched for a more pratical view of the ship, it's in the intro for the actual game:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEA-TEHeLaA

the advantage of that is that the model used in the FMVs is looking better since Klingon Academy has stock models that are only slightly better than those used in games like SFC

this might give a better feeling for the ship than some static images

Hi MrD

Have to admit it looks better in the last link you posted. I quite like it and yeah D5 will be tricky if trying to keep all the detail but at sensible poly level.

Hi MrD

Never seen Klingon Academy before.

That's a really cooooool intro and ship looks nice in this setting, plus Chang is one of my favourite Klingons.

Very nice ships... many seem quite familiar :)

I noticed the Barracuda when I tried the Uncivil War mod, I still can't decide, is it a warship or a freighter.
I think it is a little of both, no offense but this one seems a little odd.
However I am ciruous to know the idea behind the ship, not a backstory or something like that but the idea in general.
Is it some kind of "emergency dreadnought" or a blockade runner?
I'like to know.

Pigman, I hope you did not run off to the next gamestore to ge a copy of KA. :)
Before you do, consider this: to play KA even halfway stable you either need an older model computer with win98 or VM ware, this game is only marginally more stable on a modern system than BotF 1.0.

Here are a few more vids from the game however.

The first campaign is a mock invasion of the Federation

Chang's opening speech

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PSIzeItOjk

briefing of first step of invasion

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1sN8eop ... re=related

briefing of last assault

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq4O8jDAJ7w

ending of assault video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ht2zhRRsF_Q

Second campaign addresses repercussions of what happened in the intro
most of that campaign is not that important however the Romulans help Melkor, the half brother of that guy Chang killed in the intro, here is the ending of the second campaign told by the character you play in the game

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgk9IMye ... re=related

I imagine severenth was not right with the statement that the players will screem Khaan!! when playing this mod.
I guess you will screem CHAAAANNGG!!

Sounds like the "Assault Transport" from SW:Rebellion.
Fast but with only one regiment of ground troops.
Not enough to take out a whole big planet, but enough to stir up some trouble.
Will those light assault ships be a bit faster than the regular TTs and carry at least a little firepower? The Vor'cha inspired hull would indicated this a little.

Hi everyone,

I just have a note on conversions from 3ds to flt when using creator.

I found out today hob file (byte) size is dependant on scale that is set in creator. The interpenetration tolerance must be set much lower to get good results and it is harder to work with model.

I had a 1852 poly model in 3ds, when converted normaly it ended up un convertable at 5697 vertices (approx. 570kb hob size) at normal 10 scale. (interpenetration tolerance 0.0890)

So I left scale at 1.53 (what model was built at) and converted same way. The model was able to be converted and was only 383kb (still a high poly model) and still looked good  (interpenetration tolerance 0.0150)

this did change scale in game, but editing hot file scale corrected this and did not increase hob file size.

Well, Peter1981 there is always room for a dedicated KA mod right?

Oh and Pigman while this is not the actual D5 but the tanker version, it is almost identical to the D5.
It just replaces a few guns with containers so these pics micht be helpful:

Thanks for going to so much trouble. In the absense of good D5 pics I dug out the 4 episodes of Enterprise which show D5 and did loads of my own screen captures and I now have several hundred D5 images to work from.

Hopefully this will be enough for now.
