multi installer downlaod 1.0.2 crashing any solutions?

Hi everyone, I downloaded the Main Multi Installer 1.0.2,

After about 5-6 turns single player, the screen freezes and I have to hardboot the computer, I have xp and service pack 3 and a 128 mb nvidia video card. Has anyone else also experienced this, and if so has anyone found a solution? thanks

Your download might be corrupted, you could try downloading again and then deinstalling and reinstalling the game.

another thing, if it frozes during fight or in ship category of research database it's the 3d engine crashing. If so, try changing your 3D setting in stbof.ini to 3D=SOFTWARE (but you might try it anyway)

And have a look at the crash.log, it might give some more info on the reason.
