trek.icd - virus infection or false positive?

Weird... wouldnt think Microprose would allow an infected file on their CD lol

I tested trek.icd on www.virustotal.com. here on this permanent link you can view the results:

virustotal covers lots of scanners from a-squared (whatever it is, never heard of it) to virusbuster (dito).

Dunno if this file is infected tbh. But for 10 years noone had any problems with it...

i certainly never had a problem with the patched version and my scanners never gave me problems

I've just done a full scan ofmy c:\botf directory and subdirectories using AVG (free edition) with all of the security options/reports etc turned on to see what it picked up ...

Which was just that the various UE files are password protected and contain macros, not a hint of a virus or anything else within any of the BOTF files.

So AVG antivirus is not at the moment seeing anything odd with the installed files.

UE has no password protected files and the scripts are only present in the source packages to make building the executable easier.

I downloaded AVG and ran it with all options (including passworded files warning etc.) and got no warnings on UE files. This was with latest AVG and definitions.

If you're getting a warning that UE contains passworded files then something is wrong.

The UE download contains:

UE.jar -> standard java executable (not encrypted in any way, can be oppened with WinZip,WinRar etc., contains metadata and class files)
various text files (txt, ini)
dsc files which contain sound descriptions (text)
help.zip -> contains html help files used in the help menu (written in notepad and contain no scripting whatsoever)

The source download contains:

*.java files -> text files containing UE source
*.bat and *.sh scripts for compiling etc. (executable text files)
text and dsc files you also get with UE download
html help files

Which file are you getting this warning on?

On botf:

AVG 9.0 detected nothing
Avira AntiVir Personal - updated to latest version also found nothing
