yeah there was no notice. Got a pop up from the bottom right of my task bar telling me there was a update available for Java. It then had two buttons that said something like; "Update now" and "Remind me later". I hit "Update now" and it installed the update and the Norton without saying anything else.

nice move of SUN... :x

just checked my startup options and what did I find there? java update scheduler... unchecked it instantly ofc (thx for reminding me eber3)

I hate this automatic updates anyway. I also hate the msgs that new versions are available as they waste lots of time if you get 10 a day but I think its better then got Norton installed w/o knowing it.

even utorrent comes with ask.com toolbar, so, installing without reading [aka just clicking ok] does little benefit to anyone. that's just like saying yes to everything ppl ask you to do - not a very wise idea [also, an understatement by itself].

unfortunately, that's how industry works. i imagine we'll have a quite few bitching years now that a monopolly [microsoft] is offering malware protection for free, until market stabilizes. that's really gonna hurt many companies, and every single one of them is going to fight for their survival... who knows what we'll see next.

symantec is rly fighting, introducing very powerful stuff in their soho security lineup - i just love seeing how many ppl are using a particular .exe - worldwide, how old it is, and what effect it has on my system.
