Battle problems

Hi everyone

I recently installed my old copy of Birth of The Federation onto my Vista laptop.

ITs working fine except for when I enter a battle and then it crashes. I have installed the 1.02 patches but it still happens.

Can anyone help me please

welcome to the forum rufus_hannah

first I suggest you use jokers patch from download section
viewtopic.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewd ... ls&lid=120
or
multi installer (all patches pre installed and full game installer) from download section
viewtopic.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewd ... ls&lid=143

Hi thunderchero I need to aks you some thin is this an updated version of multi installer?

Its been a long to that I have visted the forums and also becouse I just got windows 7 64 bit and botf not has stayble, has it was on XP so just now I have redown loaded the multi installer and I will let you know if every thin ok.

But I am still having the same problem, does anyone know anything else I can do to stop it from crashing during a battle.

welcome back Borg,

no major updates to multi installer in about a year. 1 is in the works but not ready yet.

essential what happens is as soon as I give my ship an order and press turn it crashes. No idea why its doing that

is this every battle or just one battle you are having problems with?

from your earlier post this is original game (no mods)

have you added any new ship models?

did you install jokers patch?

what ships are in battle that crashes?

any crash log?

It seems to be every battle...

I have installed the 1.2 patch and also on your advice the joker patch, but still the same thing happens. AS far as new ships and mods I havent added any

what platform are you running? - try sum compatibility option for the graphics -- does stbof.ini have '3D=Software' ?

have you tried complete unistall and re - install?

do you experiance this problem (or similar) when viewing any ships in the science (f4) screen?

Well thunderchero the thing is when I try to play botf on windows 7 64 bit I get a black screen now and I am unable to do any thin now also whats more I have to reset my PC and it took a long time to get to the desk top screen, it was all black and no icons, there was nothing on the screen. I try to fix it but no luck so I have to reinstall windows XP 32 bit which I didnt want to do becouse I did like windows 7 becouse it was the only way to get my PC working again.

I am very sorry about reporting this but I did check every thin on my PC it keep on saying all is well so I was unable to reply back to you, and plus I didnt get the chance to say how often it crash in comabt, becouse of having to reinstall windows so sorry for replying late thunderchero.

Borg,

you could try a xp sp3 virtual machine. But I have never tried this so someone else would need to advise how to setup.

Hi Everyone

thanks for all your help

I actually found a patch for it in your patch folder which seems to have sorted it out.

But now as the Klingons it keeps on crashing after about 70 moves!
