Implementing bugfixes?

Post by Edorf74 »

Just have a little question. I have seen solutions to various bugs in the game.
Should I bother with hex-editing these? I use BOP mod and sometimes Error mod.

the error correction mod does exactly what you intend to do. perhaps if you ask the authors you can use it as a base for your mod

Well, Im norwegian so my english is crappy. Im not making any mod. I would If I had the capability though :) I meant that i`ve seen bugfixes
from other members in the "Solutions" section in the forum.

Link: viewtopic.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1284 , at the bottom

But it is a bit confusing how to deal with these and the possibility to make a mess out of something in a mod I use.

So I was wondering how essential these are and should I bother with them as Im using BOP?

exactly what I thought as well ;)

sure there isn't any finding implemented in BOP/ECM.

For ECM: this mod wasn't updated for quite a time.

But the latest version of BOP is from Nov '10.

You should take a look for all the things that are already implemented and then just check out what you want to change.

Yesterday, I was a bit suprised as I've seen a 'glitch' in BOP 1.2c.

you can still identify unknown ships. ("tooltips")

that'd be the first thing to change imo

That is done in every game. I can do that in AAM and I believe that was done in vanalia as well. I wouldn't say it was a bug, but the devolpers forgot to adress. So it was never programmed to not be able to see the specs of unknown ships.

No, it has been fixed. I think in Galaxies mod and possibly UDM3 you can't id unknown ships just by mousing over them, you actually have to meet them. Bophasn't had the fix implemented, possibly yet, and as you say I don't think AAM has it either.
