This is an old game I've been playing some time ago and everyone admitted my galactic dominance, so I don't mind screwing everything up. ;) But thanks anyway. :)

well, modding aside, the only times i've seen colonies rebel is either when they've been conquered by someone else and they've not kept an eye and not used their morale boosting move (matial law etc..) , once or twice i've had a colony rebel the same turn as i've conquered them

OR... there've been a few times where i've wailed on an empire so badly i've destroyed their morale...a combo of destroying their fleets, taking their home system and having a scarily high powered intel agency running riot..i did this against the cards once, ruined their empire and then got a couple of their last colonies to rebel without me firing a shot at them ...their last one i got to rebel i had destroyed the re-education center there and issued out propaganda against their government on the same turn

This all could based of a corrupt savegame.

Is there some other strange behavior in this game ?
(for example planetary assault hasn't morale effect for Feds...)

And is there no terrorism ?

Home systems (when AI controlled) don't rebel while subjugate, i think i saw this some where long ago.

Nither can human players (and possibly AI players [but AI is very rubbish so can't imagine it ever would try to]) liberate not their own subjugated home systems.
Only the indiginous race can liberate (recapture/resubjugate) their home world.

ie. sol and some other federation colonies falls to the klingon Empire, the romulans are allied to the federation and kindly send in a squadran of warbirds and troop transports to help out. The romulans can liberate the colonies of the federation back into federation hands or subjugate the humans under their own rule (i think the AI will always choose the latter of these two options) however sol cannot be liberated by the romulan AI (ever) for the fed but the romulans do subjugate sol for theie own evil reasons. The federation has managed to scrounge a meager task force from it shattered remanances and flys to sol to liberate the twice subjuaged humans from romulan rule. The federation (probably doesn't) succed in liberation sol and their homeworld.

hope this piece of masterpiece theater clears give the main idea --

homeworlds can be captured at any time by any one for themselves but never liberated exceped by the indigenous race.

This is probaly to speed the dimise of a failing empire with in the single player.

Further I guess that no homeworld will ever rebel as this is similarly to speed the demise of a failing empire.

I have played some games as the federation and all by systems rebel agains my oppressive decisions '..the dream died...' et al.

ont thing if a home world is completly destroyed (bombing all life destroyed) then colonisation by the original inhabitance decendances does not restore the homeworld status and is treated as just another colony.

The AI would never choose liberate, it's stupid and can't see the bonuses of doing so...trust me, you want to get into an empire's good books then liberating a conquered colony or two of theirs will have them eating out of your hand faster than any other method i can think of. :D

Anytime I liberate another race's system they end up breaking treaty or even declaring war on me a few turns after. I've noticed this alot lately. Right after it happens they send you a message saying thanks and that they consider you 'brothers' but then after so many turns they break treaty. Ungrateful AI!!!

I opened my mouth too soon.. i actually saw the feds liberate someone today, first time i've seen the AI do that...they liberated the Zakdorn from my clutches..the amazingly funny thing was, the feds declared war on them the following turn...wtf?!?!?

I actually have had other empires liberate my subjugated systems, although admittedly it's still pretty rare.

I remember in particular a Romulan game from a few years ago, in which I lost my western-most colony (Suvin, I think) to the Cardies. My allies the Klingons proceeded to destroy the Cardassian outpost they'd built over Suvin, and then returned the colony to my rule! Believe me, no one was more (pleasantly) surprised than I. 8O 8)

Oh, I see the Federation liberate subjugated minor races from other empires all the time (or at least try to). I'd conquered the Antedeans in my last Cardassian campaign, only to have the Feds declare war on me and release them from my oppres--I mean, benevolent rule.

That's damn odd in your campaign, though, stardust. I don't think I've ever seen the Feds declare war on a minor race for *any* reason, much less after they've just liberated them. :?

I saw Feds doing so oftentimes. Finally not sure why.

And that isn't the end of the story:
Mostly they dosen't conquer the minor but starting off agian bribing for a new treaty.:?

That's really funny, never ever seen. 8O

I suspect that it is corrupt...
Yup, no terrorism... That was also strange to me...
What do you think - could Ultimate Editor somehow repair it?

Regarding AI and freeing subjugated systems:
I don't recall that I've seen something like that. Thanks for letting us know that it happens, otherwise I would be surprised a lot! :D

Well like I said, I've not seen it often. I've noticed it happening to me *maybe* a dozen times (probably less) in the 8+ years I've been playing BOTF, so it's still an extremely rare occurrence. So don't expect your allies to go freeing your people anytime soon.

If you mean repairing the savegame slot. That isn't nessesary. Just overwrite it wiht a new game. If you mean repairing of this special game. I'm not enough familiar wiht UE or savegame repairing. (You have to ask DCER or Flocke)
And of course this is just speculation. We see strange behavior like no consequences of bad morale. But is this really a savegame issue ? Not sure. Think about game lag, taskforces change map direction without instruction...
At some point an value overflow could happen or something like a counter freeze.

And for the restored empire issue you can try it wiht a new game - if you want.
Take Feds T8 small impossible all others T1. None cheats to keep sure.
But almost always Gowron is right.

the only race that can liberate a homeworld is the race that originally owned it. and homeworlds dont rebel and restart the empire or any other crap like that. (talking 100% vanilla games here).

even i didnt know that liberating the home system of an empire would make the empire start up again i supppose you learn something new everyday :)

ooo its good to be back

@Antni

liberation of a subjugated homeworld can not be acheived by anyone but that homeworld's race

once a empire is out of the game even if all it's planet have rebel it can never come back by someone else liberating it's former planets you just don't get offered the option.

some clarification:
-the own home system can rebel -> but in this special case it is a sort of random event for low morale, happens rarely or most times not at all (SCT has already addressed that kind of problem: viewtopic.php?f=229&t=1493)

-subjected empire home systems can also rebel (normal rebellion like all other colonies with very low morale) if their native empire isn't already dead (if an empire is dead, none of its subjected colonies, home or normal, will rebel anymore, no matter how low moral is or not (but in this case i don't know if the rarely random rebellion event (mentioned above) still could happen!?))

in all cases mentioned above (rebel home system frees itself and belongs again to its native empire and own home system reconquered after rebellion by its native empire) the home system has lost its home system state (you can't build 'home system'-only buildings anymore) (no matter if "Liberating foreign home systems fix & morale omission fix" is installed)

only if the native empire retake it from another empire, with above mentioned fix, it will be a real home system again.
