Favourite Star Trek Characters
I'm curious, and just for a bit of fun. Who are your top 3 favourite characters in Star Trek and why?
Mine are:
1) Picard - His logical/methodical ways of doing things are interesting.
Very good taste in music (Berlioz, Mozart etc), and he even had the bottle to call Worf a coward (First Contact). The best captain in my opinion.
2) Data - He's just hilarious, especially when he tries to laugh. Always say's funny things when he doesn't mean to, and is like a super strong/intelligent child.
3) Worf - The warrior. It's always good watching an episiode where Worf is the main character. His sense of honour, duty and loyalty makes him very interesing especially when he has to try and compromise his ways to fit in with Starfleet. And he always looks excited when he is ordered to fire!
Interesting to see that my favourite characters are all from TNG!

Garak. He's just, such a smarmy bastard. Just has the best lines throughout. Hands down, Garak is my favourite character because he has character.
Dukat. Such a multi faceted villian. You never knew what he was going to do next, or who's side he was going to be on whilst doing it, other than his own side ofcourse. All the Cardassians in DS9 were allways well written for.
Third is a toss up. I like Picard and Worf for all the reasons RSE_Chris posted. I also liked Damar, as I said, all the Cardassians were well written characters in DS9. But I think ultimately I'm going to give third vote to Wayoun. The sicophantic behaviour to the Founders juxtaposes nicely with the way he treats everyone else with such disdain.
Not a huge surprise to find all my favourite characters are from DS9.

For me, I would say it's a tie between Martok and Garak. I love Martok, just because he represents the "Klingon ideal" so well, but still has a realistic view of the world (as well as a sly sense of humor). I enjoy Garak for how his intelligence and sophistication overlies his cunning and ruthlessness -- easily my favorite Cardassian by far.
Picard comes in behind them. My favorite Starfleet captain overall (although Sisko runs a very close second).

Ok. I HATE Weasel Crusher always have.jonboylondon wrote:What no ripping????jonboylondon wrote:Wesley Crusher

Kes
I also am not a big fan of Janeway, although I never truly hated the character until the horrible series finally when she came back in time to give her younger self magical shields and torpedoes that can take out the Borg like taking out the trash. And yet with these magical weapons upgrades for Starfleet the Enterprise couldn't even kill one crappy Reman ship? Hello.... (The Reman THERE is a truly horrible idea that destroyed the Romulans.)
Kes. I like Kes always did until they turned her into SUPER KES and ruined her character. Nelix was the one I hated right from the beginning.

1: Elim Garak (a pivotal character)
2: 7 of 9 (very desirable character)
3: Worf (who spans TNG & DS9)
4: Jadzia Dax (very appealing character)
5: Quark (the greedy capitalist)
Actually Quark the Ferengi bar owner reminds me more of what humanity is really about rather than the Federation which seems to be wishful thinking. The Federation imo is what some people fantasize the human race could aspire to be.
