Video Card Problems

I'm experiencing a frequent crash when I try to enter tactical combat. The game crashes as soon as I hit the "Fight" button and kicks me to the desktop. This happens on both mods and in vanilla.

I've also noticed in the mods, that the game will crash if I enter the object viewer and look at the ships, so I suspect the problem is related to my video card.

Is there a way to lock the renderer to software within the game?

I've tried applying the update tactical combat patch and the hades 3d path, all to no affect.

I had the same problem as you, I have Vista as the operating system.

I installed "Update Tactical Combat" and now I have crasehs from time to time, but it is much better than not being able to blow up any ships.

He said he's tried the update tactical patch.

Try going into stbof.ini and change the 3D= line to say 3D=SOFTWARE.

That's what I was looking for; I'm not getting crashes anymore.
