ok because it has nothing to do with patches of BotF I'll open a new thread for your question...

I'm still suffering combat crashes (installed from CD) and looking to reduce them, to make the game playable. Can someone give me a quick rundown on how? The first Hades link downloads a ZIP file which windows says is broken. The Hades 2.2 EXE file works, but says I need to be "installed completely", which I guess is no good for my current install. Also, people in thread were saying 2.2 was just as crashy in combat ... Is Joker's patch still relevant? Does that reduce combat crashes? I don't see it mentioned in the original post of this thread.

@TurboC,

Yes, jokers patch is still relevant if you are still installing from cd

As for hades (any version) this depends on video card installed and drivers used for video card.

I have also found the most important part of hades is smaller gif files, This I feel helps the most to lessen crashes in combat. (they will never completely go away)

I have also corrected link for hades it is now a single download for both versions.

Although I thought you would be using multi installer for the newer mods  (no patches needed, no cd needed, option for all hades versions during install.

1.0.2 multi installer english/german

you must uninstall cd installation before installing multi installer

OK, I'll just wipe it and try the multi-installer. But for future reference, is it possible to change the 3D mode (software, direct etc.) on Joker's?

hades does not effect jokers patch (2 differant patches for differant reasons), but jokers patch should be installed first. jokers patch upgrades to 1.0.2 version. than install the hades version you prefer.

I don't want to choke the thread with too many posts, but I think this is relevant. Just wanted to say that I switched from CD Version + Jokers to no-CD Version + Hades 1.1, and I haven't had one crash so far (turn 100 or so.) I've had a lot of combat, maybe 15-20 battles which is a lot more than I usually have by turn 100, and so far not one crash. That would never have been possible before. Thanks!

this list should be fixed.

1. hades 2.2 should be used in DIRECT3D, not 3DFX.

2. hades 1.1 is used in DIRECT3D, not DIRECTX.

I agree with Goodone, I've been playing on direct3d setting since I first put hades on botf, and I must say I don't remember game ever crashed for me during combat, not to mention that combat looks way way better with direct3d then software.

And that was few years ago about from 2005 if not earlier. :D

Hey all.

Sorry if this is a grave dig and i hope this hasnt been discussed elsewhere... i did a quick search tho and couldnt find it.

The first patch - 1:02 et all keeps getting flagged by AVG as containing Malware. Is this a false reading? Has anyone else had this?

Cheers

False positive. You could upload it to www.virustotal.com and let it check by 30+ different scanners if you want but you won't get more then a heuristic warning which means that it has similiarities to todays malware. There's not much of a difference between this 10 year old patch and a actual contaminated crack/patch nowadays. Except that this 10 year old patch doesn't contain any malware.

I for myself never got any trojans, viruses or whatever from this site and I downloaded almost every piece and bit what there is.

Heuristic scanners often puke on compressed data or image files. The pseudo-random characters sometimes look like malicious code.
