I'm having problems editing in new pictures for the game.
It's the 170 files.
Parts of the background map are breaking through.
How do I stop this from happening?
Thank you.
Size 170 TGA files

I fixed it!!
Thunderchero and Tethys:
I don't think its any specific color that's transparent.
I surrounded the 170 x 142 with one pixel of purple that I put in. I had to shrink the original so that the total size, with this border of one pixel of purple on all sides, was still 170 x 142.
I think the game samples a corner and then, for that image, that color is the transparency color.
I kind of got this clue when I was looking at the Mizarian Monument of Surrender. The image is surrounded, not by black like most others, but by a shade of black/brown.
I think as long as you pick a color for the border that is NOT in the image, then NONE of the image becomes transparent. That's so different images with different colors can be displayed correctly.
Let's say I wanted an image with black. My border cant be black, it has to be some other color not used in the image. But then let's say that some parts of the image I want transparent, so I'll make a border of that color, otherwise not used in the image, and use that for any parts of the image I want to be transparent.
I tried some offshoot of purple/pink and viola!! Perfect and with rounded corners, etc. In this case, I wanted no part of the image transparent.
Again, this only seems to be needed for the Build Screen 170 x 142 images and not the smaller ones in the Science/Tech or Structure screens.
For the Wire-frame images, its obvious that Black is the transparency color.
Goodbye Federation Replicators. Hello Starfleet Intelligence!!
I'm going to grab and existing wire-frame image and just do a rename. Something that looks close. I'm not that good..

Perfect!!
I used CompuPic "Color Adjust" which modes everything to green (or I did, anyway...) after inverting the image.
It looks really good!
Perfect all around now.
This is great!
I took away the Federation Replicators but gave the Federation Basic Replicators instead and put in Starfleet Intelligence with a 15% General Intelligence and +1 Morale at Tech 5.
Moved the building to Defense and edited the starting levels for the game to properly include Basic Replicators and a few other odds and ends with UE.

I noticed same thing on one of the images used by UDMIII.Bigmac57 wrote:Yup.. The Build Screen.
I'm trying to edit in "Starfleet Intelligence".
It's a tall building on a sunny day. Blue/White background.
Stray pixels are breaking through. This doesn't happen with the other pics..
Pain in the butt!!
To correct this, all I did was change color of upper left pixel to "pink (ff00ff)" This color is not shown "transparent" And all looked good in image after that.
