Can't install UDMIII

Post by rossbach451 »

Keeps saying there is a "mss32.dll" file missing. Also, when I try to download the multi main installer, I only get a corrupted portion of the file. Is this discussed anywhere else?

Multi main installer is required before installing UDM

If you are getting corrupt downloads use some kind of download manager. firefox has a good one built in to browser.

I am using Firefox now, is there something special I need to do when downloading? No success yet, only getting 1/4 to 1/2 of the download.

this is a very large download expect it to take 1-2 hours or more on dial up.

I am not sure what is happening with your connection, with firefox you can shut down your computer and when you restart firefox the download will continue from where it left off.

Are you getting some kind of message from firefox? (download incomplete ect) I have never seen or heard of this before.

are you on a poor connection like dial up? or using a poor wireless?

I seem to be having the same problem, except instead of it saying 'Missing mss32.dll file' it just says 'Set up files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program.'

Unsure if it means the UDM3.0.1 or the game itself. I do have Mutli Main Installer 1.0.2 installed, and I have been using Firefox for ages.

I'm re-downloading UDM3.0.1 but may try downloading UDM4, even though there's more talk about UDM3.

My Connection speed is 1.5 mbs for DSL, and so it only takes about less than 10 mins to get the download done, and the site says the file size of UDM3 is 103.04mbs, which it only says 103mbs but I'm sure the .04 is there some where, so it was downloaded all the way. So a bit confused as to what is going on.

Well after I downloaded the installer again, it worked but at the end, after checking 'Normal Size Game Map Desktop Icon' and 'Install Large Map' plus the other 3 checked boxes, at the end of the installation, said something about 3 files missing, something about being in the LOCALS~, etc...didn't write it down really.

And then when I tried double clicking on UDM Normal, it was searching for trek.exe. I hit browse and found it for it, since for some reason it was searching inside the UDM folder, o.O, and when I found the trek.exe for it, it ran but Ferengi was still there so I'm assuming that it failed...

*Sighs* Let see what happens if I try to 'reinstall' it.

Alright, same issue and this time I wrote down the errors.

C:\DOCUME~1\name(not gonna give you the actual name <_<)\LOCALS~1\Temp\is-TNUCH.tmp\BOTFZIP.BAT

Create Process failed; Code 2.
The system cannot find the file specified.

C:\DOCUME~1\name\LOCALS~1\Temp\is-TNUCH.tmp\BOTFZIPL.BAT

Create Process failed; Code 2.
The system cannot find the file specified.

C:\DOCUME~1\name\LOCALS~1\Temp\is-TNUCH.tmp\BOTFZIPLS.BAT

Create Process failed; Code 2.
The system cannot find the file specified.

And they're different, the only difference is at the end, where it says BOTFZIP then BOTFZIPL and then BOTFZIPLS.

As for getting the UDM to run, unsure. I did the same thing for trek.exe, helping it find it but then there's no difference, unless the name 'Ferengi' doesn't change but is actually quite literally replaced by the Dominion but don't say it...then well that would been helpful to know =P.

Any Ideas?

Hi BlazeBlack2000,

rossbach451 is not getting multi main installer to download fully.

for your problem when are you getting these errors messages? This is first time I have seen such a message.

common mistakes during installation

use default install paths is recommended (never use exact same path as multi main installer)
do not close command prompts while installer is running.

I just re-downloaded from site and installed with no problems.

I get those errors exactly when the installer green bar reaches to the end. And for install paths, what exactly you mean? I hardly touch the install path, I just let it install where ever the default is.

I dun know why I get these errors, but at least the installer starts up than give me some error about 'Set up files are corrupted' BS.

I just downloaded and installed UDM4 and it works perfectly fine so...*shrugs* I honestly have no idea whats going on lol.

BlazeBlack2000,

It sounds like you are still getting corrupt download. Here is MD5 hash for UDMIII_3.0.1a_b.exe

91916d2cfe5597ed69c45644bdbedf4b

good luck

If you are not familiar with MD5 than just keep downloading until you get good download.

MD5 is a file check, not a type of download.

What icon does trek.exe shows?

Post by Morf »

After pointing the link to trek.exe what icon had appeared? The Feds logo or the Dominion's? I think you may have pointed the wrong trek.exe (the one in multi)...
What antivir are you using?
What version of Mozilla R U using? Mine is RO 3.6.12 and it failed twice today to fully dwnl the multi (prior vers used to do it right in one go). I'm dwnl-ing with IE now... fingers crossed
