Start-Up Question: Which Mods/Fixes are recommand?

I suppose its a question most people thing of first when entering this great site.

I played botf years ago. Which are currently the best ways to play BotF?

a) downloading the multi-installer full version?
(instead of my scratched cd )

b) downloading the bugfix that fixes crashes of the orignal game?
(Error Correction Mod)

c) choosing the best mod, which might be Balance of Power or UDMIII?

d) Install them in that order and have a good time playing via Hamachi?

What do you guys recommand?

Me and some buddys wanna play online - but with a mod to rebalance the game and have more canon ships.

Does downloading the bugfix work to avoid multiplayer bugs while using a mod like UDM?

This is full install of game with all patches (unedited)

this is a "MOD" and a full install this will not edit your multi-installer full version (must have before installing any mod)

c) choosing the best mod, which might be Balance of Power or UDMIII?

Most mods have most errors patches that are available, but some errors have no fix for yet.

all mods listed are very good and change the game in different ways.

fluids mp is very close to vanilla with expanded ship availability early. bop and udm are fun but very different from vanilla. i haven't played much else as in mp i found these three most stable...
