Should a turn take over 3min ?

Post by MrCoffee »

When I get to about turn 200+ and find my first race, all of a sudden it starts to take 2 - 3 min to compile a turn. I have a very fast cpu and before the final release of this mod this wouldn't happen till about turn 900+. And I would seldom get that far. I understand that as the game goes on it will take longer due to the other races haven about 20 - 30 systems and about 200 - 400 ships each. Thus takeing the cpu a bit to move all of that. What im asken is if there is a way to clean it a bit up. I recall seeing something deep in these fourms but I cant find them for some odd reason.

Thanks for any input.

BTW
I'm running windows 7, I even installed the old 3.0.kmod and didnt have this problem. Even with windows 7. So i think i can rule out that its the OS. I think its a other problem and want to know if anyone has had this before and knows how to sort of help it compile the larger turns faster.

:D

save, exit and restart. The game suffers badly from memory leaks.

turn 900!~! jesus. max i have done is 250 then started over as it got boring.

on the larger mao now though and its good met the feds who after days of raids managed to beat and wear them down and then 2 desisive fights left them with nothing. now building and colonising and met the dom but no filghts yet as to far out, met the roms but again to far out to see what they have but intel has them at 12% military and me over all on 46% after beating feds and meeting doms who are 30% no klingons yet

one thing though i have noticed a few times. the ai does very well up to when they meet you. then they stop colonising and stop building starbases and stop everything really accept building ships to fight with. none of them do well in bribing minors either, feds jave 4 i have 9, roms none and dom 3. and thats turn 160.

have to say the feds in this are very hard when you start on 2nd level i play as cards this game and it was dam tough. now though i have over 100 ships and 5k coming in and see what happens next

My guess this would be due to race changes "agendas"

DCER pointed out an error between race.rst and trek.exe (order is wrong)
this will be corrected with next release.

hello thunderchero

I've been playing UDMIII and by the way its one of the best games ever. I've installed the multi installer and all required downloads. I have honestly been playing UDMIII since it was first developed. But now that i have time I've been experiencing a problem usually when I play the federation I have no problem especially when I play the regular maps. but the large maps that come with elliptical size galaxy if i play the federation i get this. after a certain amount of turns. 50-60 turns. I will then have to restart the game and continue where i left off in which it happens every 40-50 turns sometimes sooner.

dwwin.exe - Application Error

The exception Breakpoint
A breakpoint has been reached.
(0x80000003) occurred in the application at location 0x7c90120e.

now again when i play the regular size galaxy maps with the federation i have no problem. but lately i decided to change empires and play the Klingon empire with the regular maps and the large maps and the same situation happens but more frequent, I've never noticed this before because i usually play with the Federation.

dwwin.exe - Application Error

The exception Breakpoint
A breakpoint has been reached.
(0x80000003) occured in the application at location 0x7c90120e.

or error Trek.exe

can you please help me? Thank you

No, only human players can build those.

Hi Everyone,

I have been working on UDMIII and have a release canidate.

all galaxy types are playable when playing large.
many small changes to ship stats.
can build minor ships only if member
new galaxy sizes, 13x10, 16x12, 25x18, 30x22, 40x30, 52x39
Installer now installs both galaxy sizes (double hard drive space needed)
sounds for starbase corrected
minor race attitudes corrected
super bonus have been corrected for all buildings
Federation morale has been edited to more reflect they are at war with dominion.
extra starting home systems max and min population has been increased (you will still need to terraform)
Dominion ground combat increased

Link for new multi installer;
UDMIII_3.0.0a_b
File size 87.6mb
hard drive space required 624mb

I hope everyone enjoys and that no changes will be needed.

Yes it is, I just installed and tested without problems. Any previous version of UDM should be uninstalled first to avoid conflicts. Thunder told me so when I installed previous version of UDM III.

Looks Great!

I was wondering if this part of trek.exe was edited to help Mentat with his Mod of UDM...This is an extracted thread from pg. 17-18 of the 'Ultimate Editor' thread:

GB asked:

Good Morning,

I loaded a saved game with the larger galaxy map. I did the following:

EDIT-->SYSTEMS-->SYSTEM INFO

Changed the second planet in the Alpha Centauri System to New Earth from Alpha Centauri 2. Saved game. Loaded game. No change. I saved in the correct directory...I am sure it is something simple...

DCER replied:

I checked, the value in the associated file gets changed as it should. This seems to be a limitation in botf. Instead of reading planet names from systInfo botf takes the system name and adds roman numbers to them.

If you rename the system to New Earth you'll get New Earth I, New Earth II etc.

Renaming planets works only in major empire home systems. So if you rename Earth to New Earth, it will work.

Ok, here's how you can stop botf from overridding planet names.

Open trek.exe with a hex editor and at 0xFC2E9 replace the bytes there (0F ...) with 90 90 90 90 90 90

After that renaming planets will work in any system.

Have a good Memorial Day!
