freeze/hang after modding.

hello all, im getting a freeze/hang. It can happen during turn one or after 20 turns.

I have been using ECM Large as a base for a private mod.

- ships added via UE. UDM Ship pack.
- Prefixes edited. (Example: CH1 to c1)
- Prefixes dealt with accross the US Panes.
- Removed un-needed graphics file via UE's Ship pack Tool
- Added 2 ship-slot's (duplications).
- Pallettes trimmed twice

I am able to view all edited/imported ships via the research screen, So im sure theres nothing wrong with the ship models themselves.I can still play UDM through 70+ Turns (A guess that it may be working correctly)

does anybody have an idea of what i have done wrong?

i have completely uninstalled BOTF and all related files. Then installed Multi 1.0.2 using vanilla option. then installed ECM2 and UDM. UDM works without freezes but ECM freezes. Both Mod installs are LARGE with extended view. Does anybody know what is wrong?

Honestly...no idea. I play ECM2 a lot and never have a freezing problem, and I've heavily modified it. What are your system specs, and have you updated your video card driver?

it turns out that installing the dx redist and setting compatibility to 98/me rather than xp + sp3 stops the hanging. i am curious that it seems to happen on alot of ati HD6970's and before the fix UDM didnt freeeze a single time in about 6 hours.
