Expanded Minor Ship List

Using the UE and Ship list based on Gowron's most excellent BOP mod I decided to add an upgrade path for each of Minor Races ships, as to me it seemed silly that they don't get better as the Minor's get better tech. I've been playing a game with them and thought I'd share the results.

By creating a upgrade tree as the Minor's tech improves they will produce the best ship(s) they can, I set the tech required for the next tier as 2 highier than the previous and have seen Minor Races Ships III's about at around 160-180. Though unfortunately ships they have already built aren't upgraded to the new standard. If any one has any ideas if this is possible it would be most welcome as this has made encounters with space faring minors much more challenging as the game progresses.

I don't think there's a known way to upgrade minor ships yet.:(

Also keep in mind difficulty setting predicts the minor start evolution level (EL), wich predicts the techlevels (beside modding of course).

Oh, forgot that. Should be fun on my next game then... I better watch out for the Sheliak I hear they aren't found of visitors...

I wish we knew a way to make majors ship list behave like that. It would allow empires to have lots of different ships without flooding the build menu with them. Also those old ships would suddenly become invaluable as you couldn't build them any more.

yeah i'd like to see somthing like that too would make your fleet look more like its been built over time. (if you get what i mean)

I tried doing something like this a while ago, though i think it was before the breakthrough in extending the shiplist and i ended up making the list to big with the additions to the minor's upgrades and it was fouling the game up when the random aliens turned up.

long story short.: Is there any limit to how many ships we can have in the game now providing it's done by using the existing models for the minor ships for each of their upgrades?

So far usings the latest UE I've got ~220 ships and it isn't cashes when the odd monster turns up

could just duplicate the fed tech tree to each minor? or other main races to other minors that way we could see other races become as big as major powers and have a 10 way battle instead of 5

No. The game will crash if you give minors a starbase/outpost and the minor race AI doesn't know how to use colony ships and transporters.
