In replacing "vanilla" starships with others from various mods, I've encountered a mysterious problem; some new vessels do not appear on the shipbuilding list on the F2 screen, even when their tech requirements are met.
Example:
(Using DCER's Ultimate Editor)
I replaced the Defiant-class "Heavy Escort" (HH4) with a TOS Contitution-class "Science Vessel IV" and followed these steps:
-- Left the label "HH4" alone, so the new vessel is still labeled "HH4"
-- Changed the tech requirements to Level 1
-- Changed starship role to "Scout-Ship"
-- Re-ordered the starship list (by using the "Move Up/Down" buttons on Edit>Ships>Ship Stats screen on UE)
When starting a new game with the starting tech level set to "BEGINNING," this new vessel should be available to build from the start, but it isn't. However, the in-game "Object Database" shows that its tech requirements are met and that it is available to build.
When starting a new game with the starting tech level set to "ADVANCED" the vessel is available as it should be.
ALSO: In the process of re-ordering the starship list in UE, this phenomina has occured with various other vessels; both "vanilla" and new ones.
I have not yet come to understand the relationship between all of this, and how this problem can be solved. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you all for your time and attention.

Bingo!
And that is how you do that.
I was using UE 0.6.3c; it never occured to me to check for updates.
The vessels were not showing up because they were moved into slots that were "special," making them dependent on Utopia Planitia which is by default not available until a higher tech level.
Thanks everyone.

No, it'll read the registry to get the location of stbof.res and trek.exe to open by default when needed. You can change the defaults under settings.ISS_Voyager wrote:you mean trek.exe?thunderchero wrote:just remember it has changed exe now.

So my .res file that I'm editing needs to be in the same directory as my trek.exe file?
That's good to know....
And also by default when you open a stbof.res or trek.exe file it'll be set in settings as the default (replacing the previous one), unless you disable this behavior in settings.
