How Does -MUDD work?

Post by thunderchero »

Hi everyone,

I have been playing with an option run normal galaxy or large galaxy from same install path. both versions work great so far, but one version will not work when -MUDD is used.

this is path I am using in command prompt for each version
C:/botf/UDM/trek.exe -MUDD
C:/botf/UDM/trekl.exe -MUDD

when start command prompt with C:/botf/UDM/trekl.exe -MUDD nothing happens, but task manager shows trekl.exe as still running.

I would like to fix why it will not load any ideas?

So How does -MUDD really work?

Well, I've just had a go on my PC with renaming trek.exe to trekl.exe and run it with MUDD.

It worked fine for me however my firewall made a fuss about the name change and not recognising it at first until I told it that it was a trusted application.

And then 40,000 credits magically appearing on turn 2 proved that the cheat was working fine

Then my problem must have something to do with second regs for same folder.

Hi thunderchero

Just did some checking around older BOTF sites and I think I've found your problem

You need to add -Mudd to the trek.exe command and must leave a space after trek.exe

The cheat appears to be case sensitive and must go in as "-Mudd"

Then you press F11 to get whole galaxy map

BTW, I tried this in UDM III, Flocke Tournement Mod, and Vanilla and it works on all three

Mudd itself doesn't call files. But maybe it affects some of the following subroutines.
So how is it with Bones, Gorn or even invalid commands? (-Borgoff is a valid commmand line, btw)
Should cause the same error in your special case. And is this a reg-key or path error?

Somehow I doubt it will help but here is some of the following exe-stuff:

offset String “MSWHEEL_ROLLMSGâ€
I don't know how many bugs is too many but that point is reached somewhere before however many in BotF is.

I took a look at files and no luck.

But I am no longer tring to find problem. I have setup a choice for user instead and with differant folders so problem is gone. this will also allow both version at the same time installed with one installer. (installer would have to be run twice).

But thanks for all the info someone might still use it.
