The Ultimate Editor has an asm -> trek.exe hex offset converter.

Or see viewtopic.php?p=8288#p8288: - 400C00 (asm area displacement) + 2 for the opcode instructions = trek.exe position of above values.

Three values are part of my fix patch: 2.4 Chance to Blame Others Always 30% Bug-fix

Code: Select all

trek.exe at 0x7CDFA new code 0x1D bytes:

7D 20 90 90 90 90 83 FA 28 7D 17 90 90 90 90 83 FA 32 7D 0E 90 90 90 90 83 FA 3C 7D 05
                        xx xx xx

For your purposes I'd try the values 80 - 85 - 90 - 95 - 100 (for cases 0-4). So accusations become more of an exceptional special feature.
I don't know how many bugs is too many but that point is reached somewhere before however many in BotF is.

Note: Scientific- & Military Intel still must be unlocked in the systInfo code, but this will go into another topic that will feature fixes for many building output bugs & broken output types, including the % intel total (empire-wide & local) two-in-one bug:
So the patch 'intel bug fixes 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.5 and 2.5' currently has economic intel working? laughs in Ferengi

From a vanilla or ECM standpoint, I wonder how this pans balance wise. Seems like it might be for the better.

Given vanilla/ECM default settings is a nice extra touch, but not really a game changer (balance wise). These have much more impact:

- 2.1 Always-100% Intel-Area-Bonus Bug-fix
- 2.2 Attack frequency difficulty level bias-fix
- % intel total (empire-wide & local) two-in-one bug (lower Romulan home system output): viewtopic.php?p=61911#p61911

That I was not privy to yet. So essentially that was vanilla bug/flaw that hurts Roms? err

The bug gives vanilla Romulans an extra cheat advantage of +25% manned intel output local in Romulus (Tal Shiar should be only global empire wide).

Still no serious gamechanger and the least important of the three listed.

Vanilla T8 Roms have 11 main intel each 82 = 902 (% intel total empire-wide & local two-in-one bug) + 25% = +225 = 1127

So with +100 static from Phoenix max 1227 (vanilla two in one bug) vs 1002 (ECM fixed).

NOTE the Tal Shiar (% intel total) bonus still has the extra advantage to increase internal security (Obsidian Order not).

Ah I misunderstood. So the patch fixes an invisible and unintentional advantage (and not even mentioned in any official botf manual). Honestly, I think this is fine then.

I do recall some people in last year's tournament saying that Romulan intel felt just a tad weaker (RMPM uses the patch)-- thought it might a fluke but this is probably why. So, Mystery solved?

This one makes a big difference for T4/5 Cardassians/Romulans: 2.1 Always-100% Intel-Area-Bonus Bug-fix

Playing vanilla Cardassians (+30% Obsidian Order) allocating each 1% espionage/sabotage hurts the enemy with 62% of your total intel output.
Correct calculation is just 2.6% of your total intel output.

Full intel power vs just one enemy espionage/sabotage 1/99 = 160% (vanilla bug) vs. 130% (correct calculation).

Yes this is a huge deal. The past few years I have been maining Cardassians in fluids mod putting 95-98% in defense while only the rest on espionage/sabotage. Apparently people have been using this exploit for years and I can see why... One guy even got really mad about it with me since it seemed impossible to beat overcome (with counter-intel) and stopped playing that mod altogether

At least with this patch the Cardassians (and Romulans to a lesser degree) still can go on the offensive with simply more points allocated, but will be more at risk being attacked by intel themselves.
