Yea, tried that res patch this morning with 1152x864 and then with 1024x768, but it doesn`t work well (well, the resolution was right but...). I don`t know where the problem is, but it just put the whole game in the upper left corner (that good old 800x600). So I reverted back to the original.

that tool does not change resolution it will only adjust values to display properly.

what resolution are you running?

if you are wanting larger map sizes you need to increase game resolution. current available
800 x 600 original size
1024 x 768 patches available for some mods
1366 x 768 only available for vanilla

I use(d) 800 x 600

I got it working, of course I had to modify ALL the sector size variables to 1 (I was a little bit too hasty). Now the largest size can be seen on the screen entirely.

Then i tried this 1024 x 768 patch, and I increased the sector size to 2 pixels, and it looks great!
The map almost fills the main screen with those settings.
I think, if there was 1280 x 960 resolution patch, one could use 3 pixels per sector on that largest map size.

I also tried 1366 x 768, but somehow that doesn`t work properly, I mean there was only a black screen, and when I wawed the mouse, a huge cursor (that beginning screen cross cursor) showed up.

But I am quite satisfied with this 1024 x 768. Well, got to go back to editing, there`s a lot of work to do (like the new resolution tgas). :wink:

keep in mind 1366 uses a different aspect ratio, vanilla uses 30 x 20 while 1366 would use 40 x 20. plus after setting map you must run QD res patch to reset everything.

Sorry, but I have to ask where can I find this UE "graphical user interface" ?

I have UE 0.7.1b and it doesn`t have this option.

Or, can I do it with a hex editor?

Thanks!

It`s a great addition to UE.

Now I just have to colonize a 1000 systems :shock: to see if it truly works as it should
(I increased the length of those Fed intel textboxes from 40 to 70, I hope it accommodates at least 9999/9999).

But that colonization can wait, because I have to modify the energy screen to show more objects.

This new 1024 x 768 resolution is absolutely fantastic!

Much more room for things, not so cramped as the 800 x 600.
