I was wondering if somebody can help me. During Ultimate Dominion mod III 3.0.1 dev 1 and I believe dev 2 and even before dev versions, I was able to conduct small combat engagements around 9 to 11 ships and the battles went fast even when torpedoes and phasers were fired. I understand that large engagements slow the battle down but ever since I downloaded the final release even small battles that involve 3 to 4 ships slow the action to a crawl. For the last year I've used the software option I decided to use this option because Hades 1.1 and 2.2 crashes during battle I've also uninstalled everything and reinstalled everything to insure there were no errors. Is there anything that I can do to correct this issue so the game can perform as it did in the past? Thank You

I have done many test with few and many ships with no problems or slow downs.

does this happen with all ships or is there only one race you play? have you had this all the time or just some battles? have used other ships? somthing is different you are doing. maybe you could send a save before a battle that slows down for me to look at?

hello thunderchero I played with the federation and its happening with every battle regardless who I fight and it happens with every ship so far. For instance I have Have 9 miranda 3 class destroyers and they are fighting against three dominion destroyers and 5 transports and the start of the battle is extremely slow especially when phasers and torpedoes were fired. now i have a relatively good laptop i never had this problem with prior versions of your mod especially small engagements. So I am not sure how can I fix it. Can you please tell me what I need to do? Thank you so much for your time.

Are you using dev3 or 3.0.1? And for help not sure since no one else has reported this type of problem. Do you have any other computer to test on? This sounds like maybe a ram problem on your computer.

I'm using the final release and yes I have a desktop and I have same problem. torpedoes and phasers fire extremely slow.

I just did an experiment with a small map and I had Two galaxy class, 1 heavy cruiser, 3 strike cruisers, 1 light escort and I fought against the dominion which had a starbase built and 5 destroyers the ships started moving fast but as soon as phasers and torpedoes were fired there was lagging

The only thing I can suggest is to redownload. it would be helpful to much more info on your system and install steps you are taking. other than that without a save not much else I can do.

hello thunderchero sorry I took long I uploaded the save7 file. I am the federation and the battle occurs in sector 17.2 dominion move to sector and engage 9 miranda destroyers

Thanks for all the info, not sure if will help much though. I need you to double check version installed. this can be done by looking load,save,new,continue screen give me the blue version in lower left corner of that screen on first load.

I crash as soon as I load save. But will look at save/problem more tomorrow. (I have many different versions and will need to download from site to be sure I have correct version loaded as you)

EDIT; Also did this happen though out game or just at later stages?

Hello Thunderchero the version is UDM3.0.1 I also uploaded dxdiag file so you can know the type of system I have.

The problem started happening on the later stages. I've been using your mod throughout the game and this just started lately when the new ship textures I believe came out. again I'm just speculating. I never had problems with lagging before that except for large battles which was typical.

Thank you for your help and time. The mod is great.

Also in the near future I would like to try MP I never tried it before. Do you know where i need to go?

This may be just inherent to large map games after so many turns. since you are at turn 300 something. without seeing map yet I am just guessing though. personaly I have found large maps as more of a novilty and unplayable. When the next version is realesed for small patches I have made large maps as an option to install. So not to waste hard drive space. This maybe help by lowering systems on map. In current version released I found code was not edited to allow full amount of systems so this maybe edited to prevent this, but outposts and starbases will become much more important to reach other systems and AI builds so few.

EDIT: All comments above I was thinking you were playing 52x39 map

I got game to load on normal maps and while turn processing took 1-2 min complete battle only took 30-45 sec phasers and torpedoes fired normaly. this may be a directx 10 problem never had it installed before. also I have found some newer video cards like you have also give slower preformance with this 10 year old game. you may want to contact your video support to see if them might be able to suggest anything as far as setting that might help.

sorry, I doubt if I will be of much more help. but I will continue with your game to see if I see any other preformance problems that might happen after some turns without restarting.

But will test more tomorrow.

And yes your dxdiag.txt was also very helpful I will remember to request this in future :wink:

For starting MP game first you would need to download warzone and configure you system to allow proper ports and firewall.

A question about this version: Do I have to install Joker's patch before installing this version of the UDM?

And what about that Multi installer which obviously should be installed before installing the mod.

jokers patch is already in all multi installer files. so should not be used at all.
