Hi robertbc73,

tbh I did not even know that file had been edited, but after comparing it to vanilla the center is lighter in UDM.

the easiest fix would be to add the vanilla file to UDM with UE

vanilla file

Hi,

Is this mod supposed to allow ships to move into each others space if you have a non aggression or friendship?

The Vanilla game states this is not allowed, yet i see pesky AI and other players zooming around my space even with such treaties.

Thanks.

yes it is allowed, but you still get penalty for crossing boarder.

What was the reasoning behind this change?

We play Multi-player mostly and having a fleet of ships fly into your space and hover above your home world while in a non aggression or friendship seems a little broken, they could just Declare war and there's nothing you could do to stop them?

Or am i missing something here?

Thanks.

just to make it more cannon, example how many time did the fed (or other races) go into the neutral zone (or further) without permission.

Ok that makes sense. :)

So looking at the game mechanics, it seems that theses treaties all allow access to your space now, with this I also noticed the fact you cannot harm opposing players ships while the treaties exist if intercepted?

Do this then mean if you were to participate in a 3 way battle, the 2 players with the treaty would count as friends in the battle? (i.e. not being able to harm each other and focusing there attack on the non treaty member?)

From my observations, I think it will be like that only if the 2 are affiliated or allis; also in the battle you may be able to target whoever you like; and also there is some strange behavior from the DS9 space station; i never build an outpost on Bajor even after i membered them as long as the station is there.
But generally once the battle starts the enemy fleets are face to face; if the 3 fleets are starting each other 120 degrees apart (like the Mercedes sign) then anyone can target any other; free for all mode.

Bottom line, anything can happen in a battle. Sorry if I'm being confusing.

I never tested intercept (it does not really work very well) but you might be right it might not target a ship you have a treaty with.

in combat you can target any ship you want regardless of treaty. but if you attack ships you have a treaty you will lose relationship points.

Just wondering why assault ships, torpedo boats, are put nose to nose with the enemy; why aren't they in the back where they can live more than one round and support the fleet.

The no borders bit that is lacking now is the most disappointing part of all the changes. Now the enemy can enter your territory, make contact with all your native races and be buying them out from under you (had it done). Used to be a treaty kept the enemy from your natives now that doesn't even stop them.

Species 8472: is it a bug that my ships couldn't fire their torpedoes at Species 8472 the whole fight? 18 cruisers with no torpedoes is kinda pointless.

But the neutral zone wasnt Romulan or Federation space. The neutral zone was non-controlled space between the 2 empires. Like a minefield. Please bring out borders back. ^^

Why do assault ships, up to now in this game I took assault as planetary assault, but now strike cruisers appear right in front of the enemy. You get 1 round of use, 2 at most. Is this meant to be?

it is not the way it should be, but the way the game is programed.

I will try to explain, you have 4 types of ships in combat.
fast attack (scouts and destroyers)
cruisers (cruiser and command)
strike (strike only)
support (colony and troop)

if all 4 types are in combat
fast attack will be front center
cruiser will be middle left
strike will be middle right
support will be center rear

if you go into combat without one type or more each ship type will move up. So if you go into combat with only strike they will be front center.

so the best you could do is always have 1 fast attack ship and that would move strike back a little.
