One Turn Terraforming?

Post by cleverwise »

So finally after almost a year on this forum I have "graduated" to UDM from Vanilla. It is quite different and almost like a whole new game that's for sure!

I was wondering if there is a trick to terraforming worlds faster in UDM? I know in Vanilla a Colony Ship + Troop Transport will terraform a world in one turn regardless of size. However in UDM that doesn't seem to be occurring.

Thanks!

UDM terraforming code has been edited.

using troop transports have no effect in UDM (for terraforming)

terraforming calculation is based on tech level "bio tech"

"Heavy colony ships" give best colonization more building/population but worst terraforming time (slowest)

While I like the idea of the super colony ship, in my various games, it has not been available until after all desirable planets are colonized.

the one turn terraforming bug/feature has been corrected; it takes a while to terraform but you don't need to terraform all planets before colonizing; actually when i play in the very beginning i spam colony ships; colonize all systems i can to get the systems started and later on i'll have colony ships visiting these systems and terraforming the rest of the planets. Population growth is slow enough to give you time to colonize the rest of the planets.

Agreed the cost of upgrading is high, but I only hold off if I am near a tech advance.

I see; and upgrade is costs a lot; i remember those days; i thought you gave it auto-upgrade;
if someone wants, a quick change would be to make the main buildings cost the same for all levels; easy from UE group edit of buildings; then upgrade costs 0 and is done in one turn. Also helps AI with upgrading there surplus, unscraped main buildings.

i have to try dd at some point but installing it overwrites dc where i have all my changes. And i'm not done with that one yet :wink:

For the most part I am enjoying testing this version out.

Heavy Colony ships finally deploying in my game, a strong colony at my tech 9 status!
