Star Names too long fix

Ive noticed that when making a star name, if the name is too long, it will not display correctly in the game. See images below:

Now at first i thought it was a graphics error, so i edited the .tga file labeled as h_sysbkg.tga and shortened the bar to make more room for system names to be displayed.

After i realized that this didnt work, I figured it might be caused by too many letters. This is not the case either, see images below:

IOTA DRACONIS contains 13 characters (space included) and nearly fits, while
GAMMA HYDRA contains 11 spaces and does not fit. HYDRA has disappeared somewhere... but where?

I have come to the conclusion that the only explanation can be found in trek.exe somewhere in the HEX code.

If any of you code masters wanna take a crack at it be my guest, but i dont even know where to start... its not character controlled nor graphically hidden, at least im pretty sure.

It would be nice to see the whole name of the system when selecting the sector, although this is no big deal. Thanks :)

at 0xbf in *_sysmap.wdf change to E1 then edit the h_sysbkg.tga, km_scrn.tga, cm_scrn.tga to make room. thats it This does not work with saved games since list is stored in saved game.

To the point Thunder, I want it.

Hi Tethys, this 1200 starnames sound promising. Did you use canon ST Starnames?

After testing with longer name mentat gave me I found km_scrn.tga, cm_scrn.tga need to be edited to make room as well. I have edited my post that has info and image.

the 1200 includes all Vanilla starnames, as well as Canon ones from Memory Alpha, a few that I made up ( :P ) and most of them comprise real stars in the Galaxy, such as Alpha Centauri, Proxima Centauri, Gamma Eridani, 40 Eridani, Castor, Pollux, etc...

As I've told TC, you may use any of the starnames in my list, all you have to do is ask :D

Would be great if you can send that list to Thunder Tethys.
For the moment we went with the 612 canon ST Starnames and UDM 3.0.1 has been released, though we might make use of your list for UDM IV.

Now we will do some final tests, then the work on the Dominion Wars scenario will start.
