BotF would make the perfect Tablet game.
Seriously, I just picked up this game again and I am hooked, not very good and lose patience sometimes but they maybe due to being locked to a chair. I so wish this game could be made for the tablets.

Well seeing how Android runs on ARM that is probably tricky but would be cool. I would like to see it though. I know others have gotten the game to run on Mac and Linux.

Well, there is a clone that doesn't use trek names but is basically BoTF. However on my android phone the text is just too small to easily read with my aging eyes. This was true with both my HTC One X+ and my Samsung Galaxy S9.

Sorry, I haven't been following it. My eyesight is degrading, and the text is too small on my 6" phone such that it gives me eyestrain with glasses, so I wouldn't know.
I imagine it might look good on a decent sized tablet however.

EDIT: This link suggests there have been no developments since 2018, although there are versions for XP, Linux, and Win 7-10.

The computer version IS readable on a 17" monitor under XP.

I would love to just remake BOTF on tablet and sell it on the app store. Bugged people over the years about it butat this point I figure I am on my own.
Re: BotF would make the perfect Tablet game.
I wonder how long a tablet's battery would last if the turn time issue was still present.
Re: BotF would make the perfect Tablet game.
LOL - Good question. After listening to the podcast interview with the two lead developers, I think it is certain the memory leak would be fixed and the game improved IF ported over.
In all honesty, it sounded like the lead engineer (Mike I think it was) probably has the source code still but due to Hasbro (or Atari) having the licensing...is keeping it hush.
He did mention a crowd source being a way forward. I think I am going to work with Tethys on this going fwd to see if we can't keep BOTF "2" a possibility. Look into re-purchasing a license, then just port it to tabled/iOS and fix a few QOL things that people have improved on over the years (shiplistfix, update graphics, AI being dumb, etc) and go from there.
IF anyone wants to work on this with me, please PM me. I am not going to fall into that hopeless category anymore. Now that we are entering the second golden age of Trek, I think it is time to make this happen.
Come along.
Re: BotF would make the perfect Tablet game.
Obviously this is a very early game. I intend to play test a little more later and make adjustments if needed.
However, I have been experimenting and the fact I even managed to get a turn to go through was a big jump from before where it would instantly crash.
This is running on a Samsung Z fold 5 currently. I'm trying different emulators and software and hardware configurations to see. Using the latest multilauncher. The almost 4:3 aspect ratio of the internal screen makes it a rather nice fit for older games. So I wanted to try it and see how far I could get. Once I have tested some more and tweaked if its actually reasonably playable I'll make a guide to my settings etc.

So far best experience has been winulator as emulator its not the fastest but its so far stable in game.
Github link below
https://github.com/brunodev85/winlator
Using the standard multi installer all set to 1024x768. I think 800x600 might be better for the size of device though but 1024x768 is playable on this 7.6" display. I may try 800x600 as a test.
I've had about 50 turns now. Combat has worked so far, although if I attempt any screenshots in game it will allow the screenshot and then lock up.
Using winulator set with the following settings.
Mouse acts with the screen as a track pad. Tap to left click hold and tap with another finger to right click.
