Can I force a map on the game in anyway? Say...play a map as Feds, then play SAME map as Klingons?
I tried the search function and only come up with information of issues restarting saved games as different race than one that saved/ generated the map.
In crash reports I see a "starting seed" listed. Can I force a game to use that on the same settings and play the same map a different races?

Re: Starting Seed
here is the link to topic
viewtopic.php?f=59&t=2181
it uses command prompt same as using mudd
example
C:\botf\ECM\trek.exe -n1440440983
just use the numbers game generates. current game seed is in stbof.ini at bottom
STARTINGSEED=1440441283
note if you edit map with UE this will not work.
this works on large maps also.
here is all races using same seed have fun

Re: Starting Seed
I guess this -n option only generates that same galaxy.
But you can add changes to the game by modifying stbof.res and trek.exe etc.?
And then use that same seed from that "perfect" galaxy. And you`ll have a modified game with the same galaxy?
If so, I don`t have to generate a 1000 times to find the place from which to start, just use that same seed and that`s it. I really like to start from the middle (the centermost sector).
I used to hide in the corners like a coward when I got that game in the year 2000, and played it for the first times, but now I have come to the conclusion that the center sector is the best place to start from.
(you`ll have the shortest distance to every direction, and the game is more challenging, because the other empires are all around you).

yes, but you must generate starting seed with your changes and use same tech, galaxy size and shape, every change I tried crashed game or seed was ignored.Axis wrote:I guess this -n option only generates that same galaxy.
