Map size I would not want to increase unless 800 version changed also.
zoom will return to original displayed sectors in next beta 8 x 6 for 800 and 1024, 12 x 6 for 1366 and 1980
as for wide screen I keep as close as possible for total sectors and density to 800 version
as for shiplist option that would be your call
Spocks-cuddly-tribble wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2020 7:51 am exept maybe a slight increase of stellar object densities.
below is patch to edit density if you want to adjust it to your liking. I just used 50% of total sectors as example.
small and med look good to me but large might be a little crowded.

Thank you very much, but I forgot the easy value works only for irregular. Modding the other shapes requires lots of testing with try and error (unless there is a prepared patch out for vanilla map sizes?): viewtopic.php?f=108&t=872

And the large galaxy looks as if we get the old minor race placement problem (bottom, right no or fewer minors).

So not sure if it's worth messing with this.
I don't know how many bugs is too many but that point is reached somewhere before however many in BotF is.

Bug report: Galaxy Mod launches Uncivil Wars in the DxWnd launcher. It was easy enough for me to fix with right click and Modify to change the launcher filepath.

I played a couple of MP games with the UDM mod. Works pretty good I guess the sync error popping up from time to time are normal. I used the 1920 and 1336 resolution version and both work fine. There was one thing though and I am not sure what caused it. When I used the 1336 patch and launched the game through dxwnd the game went full screen but the image wasn't scaled to my monitor but instead occupied like a quarter of the top left screen. I did not change anything and it worked properly before. Reinstall with identical dxwnd settings fixed this and it hasn't occured again yet. Was slightly annoying because it prevents you from playing MP with other people.

more than likely your video driver has updated and it no longer supports 1366 x 768. mine also worked in December but quit working in January

to check if resolution is supported;

select windows "settings"
in new window select "system"
in new window stay on default tab of "display" select "advanced display settings" at bottom of page.
in new window at bottom select "advanced adapter properties for display 1"
in properties window select "list all modes"
scroll though list and only install resolution option listed.

That might have caused the issue. I updated the nVidia drivers while reinstalling and that probably fixed it. Probably didn't realize that drivers were updated automatically at some point without my knowledge.
But other than that 2.0 actually works very well.

Yeah, we all got the same version. Hosting even works for most of us now. However, it is intended that you can only play with people who have the same resolution patch as you do, right ? I assume it's due to the way sectors as drawn on the galaxy map.

I have been able to play 1366 x 768 vs 1920 x 1080 or 800 x 600 vs 1024 x 768 in the past.

sector sizes should not matter. but have not tested in awhile.

Interesting, we can find each other's games just fine but everyone gets a CTD when we launch the game. It only works if everyone has got the same resolution patch installed but this was also the case for the old installer.

I just went 10 turn with UDM on my laptop 1366 x 768 and my desktop 1920 x 1080 without any issues, but this is unreleased version I am still working on. even had multiple combats with minors.

but should have no changes that I can think of to UDM.

this was also without gameranger direct router connection (no ip required) some router may not allow this

tested beta 2 and even meet human player for combat after building outpost 30 turns and this was on UDML

Also windowed vs full screen works

also this was wireless vs wired

I am amazed how this game still brings up weird issues after all those years. The only difference is that we use Hamachi but that has only rarely been an issue for us. Still, it's probably the most stable BotF version I have ever played.
Thanks for the continued support. I think our group has been playing the UDM mod for 10 years now on a regular basis and every new game ends in new unforeseeable disasters :D

If you know everyone why not use direct IP connection it is more stable than Hamachi or gameranger. only host needs to provide IP

So you don't need Hamachi or Gameranger at all ? We never tried it without those.
