The All in One is getting to large, so I am considering breaking it up into 2 files

one of the installers will be named;
BOTF_older_mods_2.0.2
size less than 1gb

I think the whole install procedure needs some fundamental change. The installer is way too large and installing all the mods already takes an amazing 13GB of disk space! Not to think of all the installer script mess. Furthermore the install process itself isn't user friendly either. I will definitively have a look next year what can be improved.

Is there any data duplication left that *beside current installer limits* could be used to shrink the installer?
Would some game launcher help that can auto-extract mod files and apply patches or something?

I am just guess but I expect resolution takes up 60 - 70% of current installer size.

Then maybe split installer for multiple resolutions? Most ppl I guess will keep same resolution for all installs (or the next best available one).
Ofc we could also drop resolutions that were auto-generated anyhow but generate them during install or thereafter by some included tool.

even if I go with 4:3 installer and a 16:9 installer. my guess would be 1gb 4:3 and 1.3 gb for 16:9

and would need to create and release 2 installers even for minor update.

I meant images that you create one high resolution one and then use some tool to size it down. My fear with it is even when we spare space, there are so many tweaks by hand that we'd loose quality or needed to select way too many files by hand.

Another option might be to use some other image or video format that we either add support for directly to the game, or create some conversion tool that is run by the installer.

I see Flocke's points, but I think size and scrip improvements are no important point.

AIO is a great and simple tool for noobs to get BotF to run on modern OS's.

Yes, the starting delay when running the installer is a bit irritating, but not important given the benefits of having such a tool.

Downloads size doesn't really matter, but given other size issues, my only suggestion is to add UnCivil Wars to the main mods (it deserves it).

The nice thing about how I had to organize the inno script, I can add/remove or even create a solo installer without making any changes to my install folder (this folder holds every file in installer 8gb)

next idea would be to omit Flagship mod and TMPM. I doubt if anyone will miss either mod.

I personally only use Ultimate Mod 5. Not sure what everyone uses but that mod is all I really care for when I get time to play BOTF which is almost never these days as I am to busy. Plus I am trying to change countries. So my free time is very very limited.

ADDED: I should add of course I install the patches.

Thanks. I have been here lurking just often do not log into to my account.

It sounds like a good plan as I am sure most people only play a few mods. So if you have some kind of stats showing the popular mods and make a popular mod installer then an installer for the others that should work well. I am all for a smaller installer, since as I said I only use one mod and the patches.

"BOTF_older_mods_2.0.2_Beta" is basically ready just not sure if any registry changes are needed?

as for my mods barring any new code changes to test, right now I have patches I plan on using ready but not applied to files for installer.
