ECM5_hotfixes.patch
still have not added last ECM5_hotfixes.patch or ship texture edits to next installer, so time to make last min changes before Dafedz get his mod ready.

Patches look good. Smooth and crash free in all random tests.

Tested the texture improvements and love them!
Now it's even more disturbing to kill the nice federation ships.

Still don't get the nebula nacelle. For my understanding, mirroring the right correct side over the flawed left. A few % downscaling of the area and/or moving area a few pixels should solve this. Just don't have the skills. I guess there is model/texture parameters/circumstances counterintuitive to noobs.

EDIT: IIRC there is a fix for the missing slider if many ships in task force screen. I get this issue a lot in ECM (sporadic):

One more to remove from all mods & the patch data base: (ECM & UM5 is clean)

Also MUM has a lot uncertain AI TEST patches, some/many might have no or little effect but cause extra slowdowns? e.g. AI 4 sectors map scan.
I don't know how many bugs is too many but that point is reached somewhere before however many in BotF is.

The necelles are not mirrored, when they did the UV mapping they used top view so those polygons have no surface. Mapping is only a pencil line wide.
so here is side view with a solid color
side.jpg
side.jpg (171.16 KiB) Viewed 1796 times
the rear of the necelle has a different issue the mapping is misaligned, so any adding of warp would be low on one side and high on other
uv.jpg

only option to fix would be a re-conversion, It would be same model just UV mapping corrected. but it would lose damage textures.

I even have low poly model ready (larger model 49.3 kb vs 224 kb) but lighting/glow effect is so much better (3 textures)

I found no mods with "AI Build Starbase Task-freeze Fix" and removed it from next patch folders.

I agree increasing 4 sectors map scan has no effect/improvement
but did not see "lot uncertain AI TEST patches" what am I not seeing?

Nice ship model and thanks for the offer, but I want to keep the vanilla hob (LOD fix + damage spots).
thunderchero wrote: Tue Jan 10, 2023 7:00 pmMapping is only a pencil line wide. so here is side view with a solid color
Sorry my english isn't good enough. I get this and I see the other flaws you point out with the vanilla default hob.
But this specific issue with the left nacelle area is not present with the default texture.
The left bue area 'pencil line' is corruped in the new texture. With mirroring I mean using picture editing 'magic' (mirror function right -> left) for symetric nacelle part in the texture, to repair left blue 'pencil line'. The area was improper cut and/or placed in this texture.

It's an older pic, so I don't have a saved game right now. Confused 'Fed redeploy screen error' with missing sliders. viewtopic.php?p=16445#p16445
Bug is present in 1.0.2 CD Rom version, so Res patch is pointless? Should be an issue with handling of the re-deploying 'Working' files and temp TF IDs.

thunderchero wrote: Tue Jan 10, 2023 7:00 pmbut did not see "lot uncertain AI TEST patches" what am I not seeing?
Many on the fly suggestions from me to test during our many projects. Not all of them turn out as good/useful.
I'll have another look at MUM patches folder (without ASM notes sometimes a bit hard to grasp on the fly) and collect doubtful till weekend.
I don't know how many bugs is too many but that point is reached somewhere before however many in BotF is.

Edit; I just took a look at your example of issue. No scroll bar present is correct.
you have 8 ships below (selected taskforce) and 18 in redeploy screen (total 26 ships)
if you would have selected last ship (single ship) scroll bar would have appeared.

this is exactly what respatcher does, it reads the wdf file (all of them) and calculate how many ships can be height/width of redeploy screen and sets all values in trek.exe. it does this for many screens as well.

did a quick respatch on vanilla 800 x 600 and here is the changes the respatcher made
note; I expect all locations QD has marked in his ida
(I did not expect so many changes  )

Nice, thank you, but here is issues with the new palette.lst (or new texture.lst missing?)

edited2 in tactical combat also has two issues:

- Joker federation torpedoes 'T' used by all Galaxy-ish ships are just big black boxes (bottom how they should look like).
- Galaxy impulse is black as well

Thanks, you're right. Wrong example pic.
I have to be more observant to check if there is a bug with temp IDs (number of ships to display) or a false memory syndrome. :???: :?:

don't know what happened here is from a fresh ECM install (don't think I have given texture file and have not edited texture.lst)

Nebula looks great in research screen. (nacelle aft now also blue, but ok)

T torpedo still black box issue -> did UE set shared palette for tpton.gif? (so same color galaxy impulse turned black + torpedo) new impulse color is there

EDIT: Ignore below -> ECMS T torpedo is fine (after below update) so your new change somehow caused an issue?

I don't recall if I tested Galaxy-ish ships in tactical combat since this update:
thunderchero wrote: Tue Oct 11, 2022 5:27 pmsince I have been opening ECM in UE I notice UE keeps wanting to sneak in a patch on palette.lst (you manually edited this file)
what file did you want to use in installer? here is both files so you can compare
download/file.php?id=3238

Palette, texture list and tpton.gif for tphoton.hob edited via hex editor (no issues in game). I thought UE just deletes the unused palettes?

not sure but had not ran integrity check either, but palette was messed up on 3 palettes (all photons).
here is the corrected palette.lst hope this fixes photons.
