Thanks, still need more time for testing and still no good quantum torpedo.

I edited shipname.bin for ECM (added Defiant + Enterprise for Galaxy & Ambassador):

I checked latest MUM patches and you corrected most issues. There is some pointless/unneeded stuff:

lost_TTs_after_Invasion.patch -> pointless (no effect) remove & delete from patch database! -> even from ECM :!:
combat_strength_+50.patch -> wrong name - 2 patches mixed up: viewtopic.php?p=25733#p25733
declaring_War_on_Minor_Races.patch (edited to invalid race) -> pointless no effect = vanilla i.e. war allowed for all
multi_patch.patch -> disabled # part should be deleted (if anyone enables this it causes crashes)
4_sector_map-scan.patch -> I'd check for extra turn lag and/or more careful AI (you want more aggressive)
Ship Tasks Turn-Lag.patch -> might need more testing?
patches_with_notes.zip
(3 KiB) Downloaded 37 times

Random Seed Fix for Number of lost TTs after Invasion: -> pointless (no effect) -> deleted in post -> remove from mods/patches
Explanation: EAX/EDX for sub_507E50 Random_float_0_1_to_st0 are just for pointless/unused TURNSTATUS diagnostics.
This also means my small edit patch should work for 'Minor placement of 30 minors on many' with new density: viewtopic.php?p=52712#p52712 :?:

Maybe I should make simpler for all installs, example

Install 800 x 600 resolution
Install 1024 x 768 resolution
Install 1366 x 768 resolution
Install 1920 x 1080 resolution

- old answer -
- Current ECM (right/middle) is too yellow, not bright enough and should have slightly different shape than photon.
- Tethys (converted from Armada mod) is too small and with ugly border area.
- Joker (left/middle) right color/brightness but ugly shape/details.

Nothing important, just clarity for patches.

All new textures and quantum are outstanding  , but can you make quantum a bit bigger for me e.g. 75% of photon?

the only way is to increase images (separately)

this is 140%

I was thinking of using the bigger one for both. Smaller in zoom out too hard to see?
But I will test both at the same time. Setup for this? Shared or different palettes for both hob/gif files?

separate hob, separate gifs, separate palettes

increasing image increased color palette

I'm going will the larger for both ships! Size deviation of the smaller vs other torpedoes is strange (destroyers with photons vs defiant with quantum).
thunderchero wrote: Sun Jan 15, 2023 2:20 pmincreasing image increased color palette
Well, it's using bigger colors.

EDIT:

I think ECM5 is ready for release. With your great new artwork it has become far better than expected.
If there is anything you want me to check in other mods let me know.

One last thing. With new AI combat codes I lost far more of the nice new federation ships than expected vs the cardassians.
So I want you to ban that bugger for good - no questions asked - for releasing such a punishing mod: viewtopic.php?p=58007#p58007

sounds good, right now I expect at least 2 weeks for Dafedz to check out all the changes we made to UM5

I also already sent him the files for Borg on/off and load/save patches for UM5

I am still working on "patch" folders myself, just not sure how up to date older mod folders will be.

If the plasma/pulse base concept wasn't unfixable flawed to begin with  we could use something like this as pulse phaser for Defiant:

Editing plasma_2.gif with round plasma bolts like this would be preparation for developing a future fix/workaround.

Might be better to just remove older mod patch folders :?: Just make sure to update them with crash fixed like:
Auto-fix 'solarapi.c, Line: 5279, query != NULL' when loading single player saves: viewtopic.php?p=57851#p57851

sad thing is I spaced this off even on MUM...

if you have the time it would be great to have a new topic with a list for;

1. if this patch is applied remove it now!
2. if this patch is not applied you should add it now!

I think you might be best qualified to keep such a topic updated

btw here is the next MUM patch folder, I might still omit some patches example icon, race list, phasers... ect
deleted file error

EDIT; here is ECMS patch folder

MUM has still issues, some are important, see notes:
MUM_patches_with_notes.zip

ECMS is pointless since no trek.exe deviations ECM vs ECMS for in game features?
I'd just delete unneeded extra ECMS patches folder from BOF-Patcher tool?
Also I'd omit patches like icon in BOF Patches folder for mods?

thunderchero wrote: Tue Jan 17, 2023 12:26 am1. if this patch is applied remove it now!

A general recommendation is hard since there might be still unknown/rare side effects and/or special mod code deviations.
Basically its just your question about patches preventing crashes to update all mods with them (not many - above is the only new).

I deleted all outdated patches from all my modding posts after reporting issue to you. So, even for me, it would be hard to identify them in unkown trek.exe modifications. In most cases they are just pointless (or cause minor message issues) but not harmful.

We just need to remove outdated/wrong patches from the current patch database.
Best upload the latest base patches folder (no mods) so I can have a look (might take some time).

I agree that patch folder I uploaded has issues, when I zipped folder it merged with old folder. So files I had remove from folder were still in zip file.

2 questions I have about notes.

Code: Select all

NAME: Increased minor industry and energy
>> 0x0509e4 01 -> vanilla default is 3
vanilla default is 1

Code: Select all

NAME: Invade check armed enemies max X fight turns away (2->3) -> patch WRONG -> should be (3->2) (improves AI atttack tasks vs stations)

>> 0x1DD6F 02
<< 0x1DD6F 03
vanilla default is 2. You want me to remove patch?

Correct, my mistake (confused bonus random[3] with static[1]): -> your patch is right (and good to use)!

Code: Select all

004515D8 mov ecx, 3 // random divisor
004515E2 lea esi, [edx+1] // remainder (0-2) +1 = 1-3

Again, my mistake (confused INVADE with ATTACK task). But yes, I'd remove this patch (and delete) :!:
Increasing values makes the AI more/too careful (checks all enemy ships max X flight turns from task target if task status 1 [preparetion go source])
The bug is the other way round (ATTACK task default 3 should be 2).

This is the patch you want (if not installed yet? - best check MUM trek.exe - patch might have other name?):

Code: Select all

NAME: AI Attack Task Status 1 -> check armed enemy ships max 2 flight turns from target (deviation fix)

# 00435D9D        push  3                  ; 0x3519E Attack -> 2 bug ?
