I was guessing fplasma.hob is mistakenly named kplasma.hob, but of course was just speculation.
DCER wrote:iirc the galaxy had it setup and did extra (invisible) phaser damage in combat.
It wasn't invisible during my tests, the same phaser.hob as standard beam weapon.

But re-testing with kling / rom ships sounds interresting in view of plasma HOBs.
thunderchero wrote:I did notice a strange thing in lexicon.dic "Antiplasma Bolts"
Isn't that the Edo Guardian's torpedo lable?

Btw talking about strange lexicon entries, what do you say to "nuclear missile"? 8O
thunderchero wrote:I did replace phaser hob with plasma hob did not crash but displays sideways under ship.
Funny I did the same by replacing photon hob - strangest thing I've ever seen yet.

PS: Would you answer my question about backup.res above.

I've just finished testing of all multi-installers (both languages) and all of them work flawless so far.:D

As I wrote the break during installation could be misconceived as finish. Thus I suggest a note to wait for the finish wizard screen in order to avoid trouble.

About backup.res: Can I keep (moved to another folder) a backup.res in order to avoid two times 1.0.2 complete reinstallation if I install a mod update in two languages? Means only move the corresponding language backup.res to C:\botf; or wouldn't that work?
This should not cause any problems that I know of backup.res file is only used to install mods.
I might suggest making 2 folders and name them english backup and german backup

EDIT:
right now it is setup to create a backup res anytime 1.0.2 is installed but could put in if exist not to create new backup.
Spocks-cuddly-tribble wrote:Also I noticed bop-german file is much smaller than all other 103 or bop files. Is there a better compression?

A last note 1.0.2 full installation on an older PC (tested 1.3 GHz) takes almost 25 minutes now (for information only).
BOP german is so small due to the last time I compiled it I took out duplicate file of all the 256x256 ship gifs that was already in 1.0.2

Also the next release of BOP will be much larger 40-50 mb. I asked Gowron and he did alter sound files so they will go back in mod.

Thanks thunderchero

Another note to the plasma issue:

Trek.exe refers to cplasma.hob (exclusively, no other plasma).

I think the sideways only display problem could be the cause for leaving the idea alone by botf programers. The HOB&GiF would need a full 3D redo in order to use them.

No, it refers to %cplasma.hob Where %c is replaced by a single character on demand, just like %s would be replaced by a string and %d with a decimal number.

Thanks for looking that up :) ,

anyhow is there a hint for you in code regarding plasma usage?

I haven't looked at it yet, but I'm doubtful I can find a fix :)

Hi Everyone,

Most of the Multi mod installers were replaced this evening.

they were replaced to correct connection error on warzone.

New files have same link as before, here is what files have been replaced.
Multi_BOTF_1.0.3_English.exe
Multi_BOTF_1.0.3_German.exe
Multi_UCW_1.0.2_English.exe
Multi_UDM_3.0.i_English.exe
Multi_UM4_beta_English.exe

also when entering a room on warzone and one player has differant language version (player a 1.0.3 english and player b 1.0.3 german)
the host (player a) needs to set game to birth of the federation til other player has entered room with you
then host can select 1.0.3 english and launch game.
player a will launch 1.0.3 english and player b will launch 1.0.3 german.

Note; for users who want both language versions installed, I am not sure what version will load.(this needs futher testing)

Got and installed the new files, everything seems to work fine. I'm sure I'll get surprised at the bug fixes and corrections, even though I know they're in there.

The only thing I would suggest NOT doing is for BoP, the optional Trade Goods patch should not be installed if you are using thunderchero's new install. If you are using the BoP version from the downloads page, you're fine to run Gowron's optional trade goods patch.

Now I understand...... I will add patch for BOP in next set of files.

If you want you can use patched exe, but you will need to hexedit file first
search file for BOTF and replace both entries with BOPE for english or BOPG for german.
there should only be 2 entries with BOTF in file.

I'm just drooling in anticipation of a release of BoP that combines all the little 1.03 fixes and upgrades with it. What you and the community here have done to create 1.03 is quite applause worthy.

Also, for those not in 'the know', I took the time to add details to some of the 1.03 bug fixes that were not self-explanitory (at least, those that I knew the details of!). Thunder, feel free to plug this into the page 1 post if you want.

Also, please correct me if I misunderstood what some of these fixes were!

Cardassian range bug
- Corrects the cardassian range for propulsion tech levels
AI fleet buildup bug
- AI now builds the best ships available (ie. defiants, raider I's and II's, etc.)
Cardassian territory-pic bug
- Colour correction to distinguish Cardassian and Klingon territory better
512x512 gifs replaced with 256x256 gifs
Explosion textures replaced so all races use same files to lower palette count (102)
Torpedo and phaser mod files added (new graphics)
German taskforce description bug
German inhabitant display bug (German exe only)
Starvation rounding bug

- Systems can now starve to death
Bandi advancement bug
- Bandi now advance like other minor races
Resized cun_b.tga, fun_a.tga, antedean.tga to proper size
Enraged Antedean bug

- Antedeans are no longer enraged with everyone upon first contact
ship stats pop-up bug
- Can no longer discover who unknown ships belong to with the tooltip pop-up
card/kling buttons on object database (German only)
Building upgrade cost bug

- Removed the max buildable cost of 65535 industry
downgrade bug
- Ship experience levels no longer flip-flop when experience points are on the line between two levels
Galaxy II 640points beam bug
- Removed the unlistedand unintentional 640 point beam from GalaxyII's
klingon starbase distance bug
- Distance at start of combat with klingon starbases is now more reasonable
Terraform graphic bug
- fixed the weird terraforming graphic bug with certain planets
build and scrap fix by gowron 50% round up
- scrapping ships now returns only 50% of the cost (rounded up)

With all the work put into this project by the rest of the community, I felt I ought to contribute a small bit of my time too. :P
