Make sure the CD version of the game is not installed, if it is you must uninstall ALL versions of the game including the mods you may have installed, and then install the multi installer and then the mods you wish to play. CD install is not required to play the game or the mods. It actually causes problems.

ststw127,
Ok does the trek.exe work from C:\BOTF\UDML folder?
if not I suggest start over and follow these instructions
uninstall any mods
uninstall multi main installer
delete BOTF folder
right click the multi installer.exe and select properties.
select compatability tab and run as windows XPsp2 apply and close properties window
run multi main installer.exe
do not change install path
use vanilla (software) options
allow all command prompts to close on there own
once finished is in installer window close.
then test vanilla install
repeat above on UDM installer
then test mod

Re: Tutorial: How to Download & install BotF & Mods
Hi there,
I have having problems with loading UDIII mod. I did install the vanilla first and the UDIII mod afterwards as required. When I load the UDIII mod, it loads the vanilla BOTF. Any thoughts on why it is not loading the mod up?
Thanks again!

you stated you installed "vanilla" first. was that "main multi installer"?Hylas wrote:Hi there,

but also it sounds like you are installing in same path the main multi installer and UDM. you should just use the default paths to prevent problems.
also UDMIII has a seperate shortcut on desktop and in start menu.
also never close any command prompts during install they will close when the install is completed.

Then I installed the UDM to c:\botf\UDM
The UDM shortcuts leads me to the vanilla BOTF.
I never closed any command prompts, I waited.

then right click /properties on shortcuts and double check their paths and correct if needed. You can also try to see if the trek.exe inside the install path works, if so you can add shortcut to desktop. Also the icons/shortcut should be the green dominion lcar.
If it still loads vanilla install then uninstall UDM then reinstall UDM.

Re: Tutorial: How to Download & install BotF & Mods
I have checked the paths on the UDM shortcut and it directs to the correct path c:\botf\udm\trek.exe
However, the icons are the Starfleet combadge and not the Dominion symbol.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the UDM mod with the 1.02 main installer installed and it has produced the same result.

Re: Tutorial: How to Download & install BotF & Mods
Did you check the icons inside the install path C:\botf\UDM and try to run from there? and are they the dominion icon?
also you might try running the installer as administrator. I am guessing this is being installed on windows 7?
also check the stbof.ini in the UDM folder for correct path. (CDPATH=C:\botf\UDM\ and HDPATH=C:\botf\UDM\)
what version are you installing? UDM3.0.1c or UDM3.0.1db
once again this sounds like the command prompts during install is not running properly or closing early. But this is first time I have heard of such a problem.

Yup, I checked the icons in the C:\botf\UDM. Only the uninstall is the Dominon icon. The trek.exe icon in the UDM path is Starfleet still.thunderchero wrote:Did you check the icons inside the install path C:\botf\UDM and try to run from there? and are they the dominion icon?

Yes this is installed on Windows 7. I ran the UDM installer as administrator and the same thing happened.
stbof.ini checks out.
UDM3.0.1c
The command prompts are running fine (I believe).
Thanks again for your patience. I really like to enjoy your awesome mod

Hi, I'm new around here
So, to install this I have to uninstall my CD-Version first, then install the multi-installer and then the desire mods or is it a package?

yes, the multi installer main will play the exact same as your CD version, but creates backup file that mods use for there installation.angrytarg wrote:Hi, I'm new around here
