We believe you Nemo; but we will still be very frustrated and jealous of you if it does not work for us. :)

Am glad to hear you got it working thunderchero :D

Am not sure whats causing the long load time, for me it loads almost instantly after clicking the background, here are my system specs.

Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.80GHz
56GB OCZ-VERTEX2 (SSD)
6.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24)
1024MB GeForce GTX 560 (ZOTAC International)

Nemo1701

Update: I have also noticed that the game crashes or fails to load much more when in compatibility mode, when starting the game it works better with no compatibility tab settings on.

Are you using any 1024 patch? if so uninstall then reinstall without 1024.

Thunder, i think one of you admin guys should move or copy Nemo's find for win8 here; i played yesterday UDM3 with it for about 6 hours/150 turns and no crash.

For me it worked; i am playing UDM3 with UE changes to ships and buildings and some patches from QD's patch tool;
i just had to copy the 3 files in the mod's directory; once you click the game icon it will appear in the tray; just click the mouse a few times where-ever and it will start.

I tested it now too and yes it works (win8 64bit) but loads almost a minute on my system before I get to see anything
nice to see it fixes the mouse lag though :)

Did you waited for it to start? i just clicked my mouse a few times and it started in a few seconds. my laptop is a i7 but even if you machine is older, stil 1 minute seems long.

when I click, first a black screen appears and it keeps loading, I click again and the screen becomes beige, I click again and it crashes
also tested the 'pseudo windowed mode' fix with 16bit compability tc mentioned and it solved the cursor issue too
but right now I'm working on mpr++ again so won't need either

tested with an A6-4400 AMD APU btw
not an old processor but not as powerful as yours ofc
