(Solved) Crash after clicking the right mouse button

Video card/chip info: Geforce 1070
Are you useing DxWnd?: DxWnd Fullscreen
Was Birth of the Federation running on this system prior to this install No
List any crash logs or messages you might have seen


What have you already tried to solve the problem?
- started dxwind full and windowed with different compatibility modes
- started the via the trek.exe, which lead to extrem lag

Detailed description of your issue
Hello everyone,

I just installed the latest AIO version on a fresh Win10 installation. Everythings works great, no problems with the main menu, sounds or lag, but for some reason everytime I click ingame the right mouse button and try to select any of the windows (build, diplomacy...) the game crashes without a error message.

I hope somebody knows a fix for that, I want to play this great game again

first thing I have to ask do the keyboard shortcuts work?
F1 main map
F2 build screen
F3 Intel screen
F4 research screen
F5 diplomacy screen
when on main map Esc button will take you to game setup screen.

it is a very strange crash I have never seen.

edit; what type of mouse are you using?

Thank you for the quick answer. I just checked all of the shortcuts and I can say now that it's not the mouse.

Main Map, Main Menu, Intel and Diplomacy work, but as soon as I switch to building or research it crashes.

Edit: I found the reason for the bug. I forgot to mention the 1080p Patch, which is the cause of it. But I still don't know how to fix it.

After many re-installations, I finally found my mistake. I always did install one of the cosmetic patches, which apparently leads to the crashes.
So after install the game only with the orignal gui, I now can enjoy BOTF with the 1080p patch

just wondering was it a higher resolution 1024 x 768 or 1366 x 768 causing the issue?

Sorry, for my late responds, I was on holiday.

I tested every combination, it only happens with the 1366 cosmetic patch.

That is what I expected here is quote about using 1920 x 1024 patch from info pages

Usage of 1920 x 1080 universal patch
This patch has had limited testing, but I have had no issues when applied to 800 x 600 versions. This patch has been updated.
