the 1920 image looks like "windows scale" setting not set at 100%

your crash is strange, I expect some kind of crash log.

double check you crash log in install folder and also check the event viewer again.

one other things you can try would be to edit the stbof.ini and on the lines;
SOUNDON=ON
MOVIEON=ON
change to
SOUNDON=OFF
MOVIEON=OFF

also post details on stbof.res (size in bytes and options used during install) I would like to confirm all files are being added properly to stbof.res

if you are not doing so already focus your testing to only vanilla to get it working before installing mods.

Success! That solution seems to work, it puts it as a Windowed version. I can play it now. Thank you so much!

well at least it is not an installer issue, but it acts like a video/DirectX issue.

F8 key will take it to fullscreen or a permanent solution is to edit MPR++.ini in MPR++ folder

I read up on the topic, could be there is a video driver issue and ddraw fails to do the rendering. Would be great when you name your graphics card or chip and when you try update your video driver.

I further sent you the link for mpr++ download as requested, hope you get things working!
