Res error

Post by Kahless01 »

Hey guys! Glad to see this place is still running. I have been trying to play the galaxy mod, but I've noticed on any resolution the game only loads the top left of the menu. This happens with all mods even after a fresh install.

I am guessing you installed 1366 x 768?

if so you system does not support 1366 x 768

you have 2 option use Dxwnd in windowed mode or select different resolution

or you have dual monitor? if so see this topic
viewtopic.php?f=303&t=3889#p51570

or you have changed your windows "display scaling" is set to above 100%

I installed the 1336 patches for al the mods, and even the 1080p patch as well but it still does nothing. My monitor can run 4K. A second thing I wanted to ask you personally is how to mod this game, as I’d like to update it to more modern standards if possible.

I did and I think that may fix it. I would like to mod graphics mostly, I’m 16 and love the game and what to see it continue into the “next generation”, but I have no coding experience.

if you are wanting to just improve images you would just need to exact images and edit then re-add them. but images are limited to 16 bit tga files. (not the best format for high quality)

if you are wanting to increase to 4 k that is a little more complicated and there is a project in the works here.

not sure if he is interested in a partner in this project you would need to ask.

Ok I’ll look at it. I know there was a fan made second game that fell through. Are any of the modders still active here besides yourself?

Also, how does your Multiplayer mod work?

my mod was intended for better balance in multi player games

all mods are able to be played in multi player you have a few options on how to connect.

if connecting to computer in same household
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3746#p49474

connecting over the internet using gameranger
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3548#p47689

So when I host a game for me and my dad, the game name doesn’t pop up in the game list.. could his be a router issue?

more info needed...

after game starts press windows key on keyboard to lower game to taskbar. you more than likely have windows firewall asking for permission.

after permission is granted restart game.

I’m trying to connect by IP. I’m on the same internet connection as the other player as well.

if you are on same router do not enter an IP

but yes some router will not allow this type of connection.
