Games will not start from launcher on Windows 11

Hey guys,

just got a new computer that has windows 11. Just like I do every time I get a new computer I download the launcher and install all of the various mods available through the all in one launcher. I usually go with the highest resolution installs and I haven't had an issue with it on the last few computers I've gotten.

However, with windows 11 it doesn't seem to want to work. I downloaded everything just fine, installed without a problem, but then when I open the launcher, none of the games will open. I try to open them but nothing happens (I have run as administrator as well, still no luck).

Any help that can be offered would be greatly appreciated.

Just a quick update, i've verified the resolution is supported and that direct play legacy component is active. As I was trying to further troubleshoot I did notice one strange thing. The Vanilla game will launch and appears to function, but absolutely none of the mods work. I've checked several of the paths of some of the mods I like and the pathing appears to be just fine. Not sure what else to look for at the moment.

I just read over on DxWnd site, windows 11 does have issue using dxwnd

so there maybe no fix at this point for windows 11 users.

this suck but expected when microsoft does major updates. (it has happened on every major update)

gho (developer of Dxwnd) might find a fix soon, or you can try to update to his latest version.

latest release DxWnd Download

after download extract to a new folder (does not matter where)
go to the BOTF install path and open the "tools" folder

select folder you want (fullscreen or windowed) folder

copy the dxwnd.ini file and paste in the new folder with latest version

execute the dxwnd.exe

run the version you want to test from the DxWnd window

note; DxWnd will look different.

You might also try the latest beta release, no dxwnd gui needed since it adds proxy files during installation

Huh, I seem to be lucky in this regard. My PC that I bought last year came with Win11 pre-installed (which I still hate, btw), yet I've not had any real problems launching/playing BOTF. And yes, that's with using the launcher version from here.

My genuine sympathies for Elson_Vi and anyone else with this problem. I feel for you.

I upgraded late in last year and faced no issues so far either. Am using the beta installer with proxy files.
Guess they fixed it since early last year.

Desktop shortcuts wouldn't work so I go right into the folder and launch from the application icon.

winmm.dll

and you still have mouse lag?

if so open "tools" folder if installed if not install "tools"
go to C:\botf\tools\DxWnd\dxwnd_Fullscreen and run Dxwnd.exe and select mod you want to play from list
see if that works

I have it installed and I have tried to run directly from there and it does not load no matter which mod I select.
