Ok so this was a saved game crash. This is normal after making changes always start a new game after making changes.

Just got back on a BOTF kick again after about a year or two. Read through the tips and instructions for installing the Multi-Installer stuff.

Used UE to make a few custom ship and planet stat tweaks.

Consistently crashing to windows at around turn 200-220.

Especially after or during combat situations.

This has been the case regardless of mod, original, vanilla, or a few tweaks of my own.

Next time I'll remember to post a crash log.

I was playing as Feds and the game would hang up on a black screen and the only way to exit was by closing it in task manager. I used UE to switch the cards and when trying to complete the turn the game crashed with the following log..

ST:BOF Fri Jan 25 11:41:23 2013

Version Under Test: 72
File: ..\..\source\game\ship.c, Line: 968, taskForce != NULL
Initialize State: 31
Player Empire: 0 Starting Seed: 1358900514
Galaxy shape: 0 Galaxy Size: 2
Turn State: 20
Turn Number: 219

I'm playing UDM from Multi Installer on XP operating system.

Any ideas what's happening?

File: dounzip.c, Line: 267, buf != NULL
Initialize State: 15
Player Empire: 1 Starting Seed: 0

this is more of a generic reply,

what changes have been made lately?
have you added files with any thing other than UE (WinRAR or winzip)?

from log it looks like this happens on galaxy generation?

But it sounds like a bad file or file format. but could be any file within game.

the only place in trek.exe this error is listed is at 515190, but not much info on this sub section other than name QD gave it. " void __fastcall DoUnzip_UnloadFile(void *buf) DoUnzip_UnloadFile proc near"

best thing would be to go back to last working version then start sorting files by date modified and add a few at a time until problem file is found.

good luck

Yes that was it mate, well done. For whatever reason I can't account for I added some image files to the .res via Winrar. Resolved now, but I have another problem with a .hob file. Everything is fine in Creator on separation, but object does not render correctly in game. Sending an IM...

Received this unknown crashlog playing (testing my mod) earlier. Occurred at Turn 146, nothing unusual happened that I can think of. Restarted game, replayed the turn, and crash didn't occur. Played on without any problem after that. Seems to be lexicon/text related, but I'm curious as to what this refers to:

Version Under Test: 72
File: ..\..\source\lexicon\textdb.c, Line: 60, textDB != NULL
Initialize State: 31
Player Empire: 1 Starting Seed: 1365782259
Galaxy shape: 0 Galaxy Size: 2

looking at ida database and it is in sub section on intqueue.tdb. but since you were unable to repeat error I would not worry about it.

I can't understand why intqueue.tdb was implicated in this crash, as this file is associated with intel/sabotage events, and where I am in the game there is no intel. I've yet to meet my first major.

I've got this one

-------------------------------------
ST:BOF Sat Apr 13 00:53:21 2013

Version Under Test: 72
File: ..\..\source\archive\galldsv.c, Line: 317, size == numBytes
Initialize State: 31
Player Empire: 1 Starting Seed: 1365252103
Galaxy shape: 3 Galaxy Size: 2

No combat for me on this turn, I've edited a few systems, just given them their infrastructure through UE to remove grind, I'm constructing defense fleets for a couple new systems that's about it.

Ok so somehow it stabilized itself and I got a few more turns but now it's just crashing again. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really cbf starting all over again lol. There really isn't much happening in the particular turn, I accepted a treaty from the Ferengi, the Klingons have a fleet in a Cardi system, I think they're about to bomb the crap out of it, and I'm still in the process of finishing off 3 build ques of ships in 3 systems. I fooled around with morale on a couple systems but I figured if that's what screwed things up it would've crashed a fair while ago.

I don't know how many times I have to repeat this,

EDITING SAVED GAMES WILL CORUPT THE SAVED GAME FILE IN MOST CASES

Ok sorry, so is there anyway I can rectify it? Or fix it?

nope, the damage is done. if you have a saved game before you edited would be only way.

Damn, feels like UE is almost useless in that regard then, tried to cut down grinding on editing star systems, structures etc, rearranging the map and so forth. Thanks for clearing that up
