Pioneer Universum Mod

I'm thinking of creating a mod, this time with 1920 x 1080 resolution.
It will have almost totally redesigned Federation GUI, some changes to Romulans, Klingons, Cardassians and the Ferengi.
So far I've thought that the first version won't have much changes from the original game.
Here's screenshot from the game :
Here's Federation main screen of a solar system with 9 planets and my own design of a Gaia-type, class X planet :

One might also notice that I've increased the max populations a lot.

So, what do people think?
I think I need some help when creating the file itself, when I'm ready.

be sure to keep track of edited files (UE will keep track as long as all file are added with UE) also I hope you started with a clean vanilla install.

I started from scratch, 800 x 600 Vanilla, and I haven't used anything but UE, some modifications with hex editor (is hex editing a problem? I mean, I think I should keep track of those changes too, right?).
Here comes what I have done so far with hex editor :
1. Federation font colors.
2. Gaia-type planet.
3. Shipspeeds increase (from 5 to 99).

if you only edit the trek.exe it is no problem. QD created a little tool for me to compare original to edited and create list of hex changes that is used during install.
if you edit any other files such as English.snd, alt.res, any video, ect. those files overwrite backup files when installing.
so a file list of other edited files is all that is needed to keep track of, if you need to edit any.

Pretty! As someone whose favorite race in BOTF is the Romulans, I heartily approve.

If anybody knows decent background images for this resolution, I'd take them (Feds have already a good one, and Roms might have one too, not that one above though).
I need at least 3 good ones (for the rest), they don't have to be in colors, at least 1920 x 1080, quite dark and stars small, so you don't confuse them with star systems.
Good nebula images I can take too (for galaxy maps).
More than 3 is always better, then I can decide which ones are the best.
