Nice work!

Post by Karstedt »

I like what you've done and I had no idea there was such mod support for this oldie.

When I installed the 1.0.2 to "D:\botf", the installer incorrectly put "C:\botf" in stbof.ini. I'm assuming it's a problem with the installer because when I install from the disc it puts the correct directory information. After changing it manually, installing 1.0.3 (and probably other mods) used the correct directory though.

Great work, and thanks.

I will look into problem I have not seen this happen before.
Just wondering was cd/iso completly uninstalled first before running main Multi installer 1.0.2? this might have been reason for error.

Yes, the cd version was completely uninstalled. I spent some time playing the last day or two and haven't run into any problems other than that though. It actually runs much better and has fewer problems than the cd install... though that's likely attributed to that fact that I was running plain old microprose 1.0.2, so I didn't have movies and there was terrible lag when mousing over certain things. I was about to quit playing (again) until I stumbled onto this site.

Does anyone know, how I can start the Colonies-Mod? If I want to start a game it crashes back to desktop after showing the race-intro :(

I just checked and some of the explosion file got replaced by mistake in multi main installer english install only.

this has been fixed and new multi main installer has been uploaded.

BOTF_1.0.2_English_German_b.exe

complete uninstall would be needed of main and all mods before installing.

this is only graphic file change and remain compatible. And only engish install was effected.

In this new installer, the CDPATH and HDPATH in stbof.ini default to "C:\botf\" instead of the install path. Not a huge deal, but just a heads-up for anyone trying to revisit 1.0.2 for an afternoon. :)

explain this is normal install path? or did you change during install and ini did not change?

The installer prompts for a path (which I appreciate), so I set it one step further down: C:\games\botf\. The rest of the installation, as well as subsequent mod installation, works out just fine. I don't know if this happened with the previous version, but I just noticed it this morning.

Hi everyone,

ketteringdave is correct an error was found when changing install path of main installer.

This has been corrected now

I am surprised it was not mentioned before this. It was also present in previous version that was out for 2 months.

same link as before from download section.

BOTF_1.0.2_English_German_b.exe

complete uninstall would be needed of main and all mods before installing.

I guess the reason why nobody reported that bug before is that likely most players simply use the proposed C:\botf\ path. But thanks for the quick update Thunder.

I thought one year ago that I was one of the last few ppl in the whole wide world still playing this old game. It never ever came up to my mind that such a community could exists somewhere in the widths of the net.

Thank God that I was as often wrong as usual :)

Now we just need over 9000 members and our party can finally start. :)

Perhaps our ruthlessferengi is able to get some good stuff like 2308 then. Not that one from 2304 again. I've got some bad memories of this stuff ;)

Multi Installer Mod 1.0.2

Post by ironwulf »

Hi All
