Re: Multi Installer Mod 1.0.2

He asked if he can/must patch his old main-multi installer to the new version. I told him he has to de- & re-install everything (hope I'm correct).
I don't know how many bugs is too many but that point is reached somewhere before however many in BotF is.

Of all the advancements that BOTF enjoyed over the past years, I would rate introduction of multi-installer as the single most crucial tool to ease Multiplayer connection of vanilla and many other mods - there is just no way to mess up the STRES files, ensures uniformity of installation, allows for anybody to have multiple version of the game installed with.
Simple tool but made life for the end-user immesurably easier... Thanks, Thunder, great job!

I'm new and want to try this game. I'm currently downloading the 1.0.2 installer. What do I do after that? Do I need to install a mod or another update in order to play?
Thanks for your help!
Welcome to the BOTF forums, Gertjan!
Once you've installed the 1.02 installer, the game should be ready to play -- the vanilla version, that is. If wish to add any of the major mods, most have a multi-installer version available.
Gertjan wrote:Subsequently, do I then need to install the
1.0.3 new vanilla multi mod installer english?
Only if you want to. The 1.03 version is technically a mod, and while it fixes/improves a few things, it isn't necessary to play the game.
Gertjan wrote:I mean the "1.0.3 new vanilla multi mod installer english". Is this also a mod?
Yes.

Thanks a lot Martok. Very helpful. I tried the game yesterday evening. I bought it actually 10 years ago. But I forgot how good it was. It is a nice alternative to distant words, since it is turnbased and in the star trek universe (or babylon 5, for which a mod is also available).
Any suggestions where I can find additional strategy (in particular ship combat, ship info) advise?

Hi All.
Used to post on here about 4 years ago..... but had to restart my profile as I had changed email addresses etc
I love the UDM mod - I'm using the UDM-large file
I extremely thank all that have given a 10year plus lifespan to this amazing game for Star Trek fans like me.
My only point is that ships that could go to make a "vanilla" or officially-seen ship fleets as you'd see on DS9... but mirandas say turn into other ships later techs.......
I'd love a way to say press a button so that if I want I have access to all ship classes and versions i.e. command cruiser I or II
and that individual ships don't turn into another class upon tech level increase...
just a thought.
and keep up the big work
