Hello, I am a long time fan and player of BOTF.

I have 2 computers on a network that I would very much like to try and run a multiplayer game of BOTF on. However, I can never seem to get the game to be recognized between the two computers.

I Remember a long time ago that there used to be website communities that directly linked the multiplayer feature of the game to their websites and could launch games through that, but those communities have since died out, leaving me still with the neverending question of how I can set one up.

Then I found you guys and you seem to do it on a regular basis. My question is.

How?

I've run the network wizard between my two computers, and so they are linked on a LAN, at least I think they are. But yet I still can't get a get to run between them and be recognized.

Can someone please help me out with this?

Hi Saijen, welcome to the forum.

Most probably not all of your firewalls are configured right.
In BotF you simply host a multiplayer game on the one pc, and join using the network-ip of the hoster (see your network-adapter info) with the other pc.
Often you won't even have to type an ip at all in a private network.
Connect, wait some seconds and you should see the game to join.

As for the firewalls, you simply might try disconnecting from internet and disabling the firewalls. Else you'll have to allow botf and dplaysvr.exe, and maybe will have to open the TCP/UDP ports 47624 and 2300-2400. On my comodofirewall I recently had to disable a stealth function instead.

Over internet BotF mostly is played using either Warzone or Hamachi. But that wouldn't make it less troublesome.

Good luck to you!
Cheers, Flocke
