I need a hint.

Post by dennycrane »

Hello guys, I have a question and I hope you can help me.

A friend and me tried to setup a LAN game today. But it didn't work. :?
We both installed BotF 1.0.2, we started the game, went to multiplayer and I began to host. We of course payed attention to our Firewalls not blocking our connection. My friend was able to see the game. But when he tried to connect, the following popped up:

Did I miss something to do?

Some side info, maybe you need it:
I am using Win 7 Ultimate.
My friend is using Win Vista Home Premium.

Thank you for any help.
:D

hi dennycrane,

long time no see.

Did you also set up the windows internal fw and let botf pass through?

I suggest to setup a static ip adress for both of your computers.

also check out:

I hope this helps the both of you.

edit: this post of Dr_Breen is interesting, too:

but I've never tried that with BotF tbh.

Hi Krazee,

indeed long time no see. But good to see you are still around. :D

Thx for the quick reply.
Yes, I'm sure the firewalls are down - Windows Defender asked on both PCs and we accepted to let it through.
I will try the static IPs and let you know how it worked as soon as I have a result.

Thx again.
Cya :)

Well I have heard of Hamachi but I never used or even downloaded it so that would be a completely new experience.

Doesn't it just build up a VPN connection?
