Hi everyone. I'm on GameRanger, nickname Chaelvin, if you'd like to connect for some MP action. The new mods and updated 1980 GUI really do revitalize this classic. I'm glad TC hasn't given up on it!

I'm looking for someone to play with, just about any version of the game should do. Short to moderately lengthed game. I would be up for multiple game sessions, but I don't think I'm up for a long campaign. I'm not very good. I'm really just looking for someone to team up with for a game, to do thing like coordinate fleet actions and roleplay diplomacy. If we end up stealing ships maybe even do something to the effect of "Hey Cardassians, why did you attack me?" "That wasn't us, but some ships are missing." and have a proper investigation. (Or a war if the Cardassians aren't believed about the ships being stolen.) Perhaps a Romulan plot where they try to trick another empire into thinking the Klingons are attacking them with D7 cruisers.

So far the best I've really been able to do in single player is a vanilla game in which I'm playing Federation and I have an alliance with the Cardassians. Every turn I check their fleet movement, then reload the file and move my ships so they are escorting their ships. Nothing too interesting comes of it of course as the AI doesn't usually coordinate too well. I've also never dealt with online gameplay for BotF so I might need some help with connecting. I prefer Discord or Skype for communication during the game, but if you have another method I can figure it out.

In summary, I'm looking for a diplomatically oriented game with shenanigans and alliances.

I think I will give some of these new features a whirl and fire up BotF once again :) Not sure if MP is still the same pain in the ass way to set up like it was a few years ago but I am willing to give it a go. PM me if any are interested in playing :)

What an outright display of bravery right here!

Sadly, I get some graphical glitches with the game which makes it impossible to play. :(

haha I remember that cartoon
but yea I've noticed some graphical glitches myself but then BotF was always a game about patience more than playability  nothing too bad yet. Just playing a SP game on good ole UDML and having some fun :) How are you Krazee?

I wrote you a pm dude. It's definitely been some time!

Indeed, about patience. God, remember that damn port 47624 or whatever it was?

The funny thing about the graphical glitch: when I search the forum for this error, I only find threads where I answered myself a couple of years ago and nothing what I suggested back then helps ;)

My Graphics Card is probably too new. AMD drivers also got some radical updates and lots of games had to be updated at some time (shader issues). It's probably over for me to play that game any time soon again. :(

safe advise would be to make a profile for botf and turn everything off especially morphological filtering.

Since Tethys gave this advice a while back to turn off morphological filtering, I never had in on again. Not sure what's happening. The main menu was flickering and the mouse cursor kinda "ate" anything I pointed on. Game started and everything but due to this was unplayable, sadly.
It happened a couple of months ago. I'm going to re-install and replicate these days when I find the time. I'll add a screenshoot, too. So you might get an idea what I'm talking about.

Yes, disable morphological filtering.
Wasted almost an hour trying to get my "weird, blurred, smudgy" BotF game to work before I went through the AMD driver settings. Couldn't even describe the problem properly on google, morphological filtering on this game was just too strange and too malfunctional.

The mouse cursor in this game was always sluggish and unresponsive, almost like it was a bolt-on afterthought. I recall it was far worse in unpatched 1.0.1 - cursor memory leaks! - moving the mouse around too much eventually crashed the game.

Hey All!

Not sure if anyone still plays this now a days, but my dad and I used to play this all the time together back in release.

He and I just both got back up and running with the latest all in one installer on our Win10 systems.

I'd love to get a few games going with anyone who's interested, any mod. Down for GameRanger or direct.

Typically available M-F after 6pm PST and Weekends.

PM me!
