November 2013 Tournament

Post by BenMaxwell » Mon Nov 04, 2013 7:30 am

This topic is up for anyone who wants to start a 2013 Star Trek BOTF tournament. Just reply in the forum to sign up. Also, post what race you think you would like to play as, and what suggestions you have for this tournament, specifically speaking what kind of mod or unmodded version of BOTF we should play on.

Great idea Ben.

I'm good with playing all races except Cardassians. I'd like to recommend we play the new UDM3(dd) mod that was just released, I would also give Ultimate Mod a try but given how easy production is in that game with auto-upgrades, I'm not certain how well it would work for MP and tournaments.

say hi to him back for me xD personally, i tink that udm3 is awesome, and with mpr alpha test makes it even better. personally i only play the feds cuz i feel guilty if i go with any other else xD mostly because i prefer diplomacy, not conquering...... but only if its necessary xD

Is the MPR alpha test ready for use in a competition? I haven't tried it but have heard some good things. I would be open to using it, if it's stable and ready for some gaming.

it can be used but I do not recommend serious tournaments for now
first you need to find enough players, organize time, then all the mp connection troubles with routers and so, then the balancing issues with starting conditions and more, it's always a mess and results can't be taken serious anyway
be aware of that and I wish good luck :)

I'm also not sure how the tournaments usually work, especially since these are typically long games and multiple games would need to be played to complete brackets. Anyone have a recommendation of how we should proceed?

I say we have multiple games at the same time, then 1vs1 for each game, and the winners of each game face off one another until there is a final winner.
