Birth of the Federation

A new Discord server has been created to more easily arrange ST multiplayer games, particularly BOTF. There are tournament, news, voice comm and streaming channels. All are welcome, including those who only play single player or just want a place to hang out.

Hi Thrawn,

That will be the MPR mod that Flocke created. It's not 'needed' but it makes the experience a lot better, and most people playing MP have it installed.

Dudes, I am perfectly fine when you pass it via pm or chat or so. Just let people know it is experimental and known to have some bugs and I can't give any support to this.
Never expected this to be played by so many. When I got this done I always had in mind to soon fix the turn freezing and some other issues like the end game video crash and make a proper release. But well, there came too many things in between and the freezing turned out to be quite hard to fix. So was the botf combat tracking and missing effects.

Soon thereafter the Ogre3D engine I based this on was split to two projects and lost most of their staff. Sadly this engine by today receives only poor development and support. Although it is amazing two dedicated people still keep working on it.
Still, last time I gave it a try, almost all the samples were broken and the documentation is a huge mess. So when I give it another try I better port it to another engine right away.
Not that I havn't looked at it, but it doesn't make things easier. Specially given the memory usage and required 64bit interoperability.

But if I can, some other year I'll revive that project.

We have over 100 members now and have become a community server. Everyone is welcome and it's a lot easier to arrange MP games.

Come and find out, Flocke, you'd be more than welcome! (but probably about 10 as usual ).

We've had a little rebrand and have expanded into ST multiplayer games more generally. BOTF is still a primary focus and we're at 130+ members, and Rai (Chronos) is currently organising a BOTF multiplayer tournament so it's a good time to hop in (even if you just want to watch the games on stream).
