Coming Immense space station
well fellows, here it is what i´ve got so far, just the mesh, and there´s still a lot to do and reduce !!!!, why ??, because at this moment it has almost 2000 polys, that means 2000x2= 4000... A LOT !!!. But once i´ve got the total mesh, i would see what i start to cut it out
Here you have some pics:
Any ideas or suggestion about how to proceed now, i mean where to cut or reduce the poly number, where to put more detail or less, will be very welcome

Could probably take some away from the shipyards, these are typically not important as the overall shape of the station (but be sure to keep them and texture them, may be a good time to learn transparent textures )... also the 'under' sides of the station and attached pods could f.e. the 4 small domes on the under sides of the pods could just be simply textured without having the model actually have the small domes
but im loving this model!

mmmmm.... transparencys... you are rigth, could be a good time to start using them, i´ll see how many polys i will reduce and how many would i have to use, in order to make it look good, the real shape of the yards are different if you take a look at the real mesh.
About the 4 small domes, good idea, once i finish the mesh, this ones would be in my list of cutting out.
Thanks for the tips !!! keep on !!!

well, one thing i saw, is that conventional ideas like up and down prevail
with the artificial gravity on ships and on many places on a starbase, you dont have to put docks "up" or obey any other gravity rule
i think in the startrek series there is at least one example of starhips docking anywhere, up, down or sideways. With your tech, graity and thus design is optional

catch me on messenger I will explain easy way to combine palettes. You will need to learn this any way if you plan on adding as many ships as you are.Tethys wrote:sadly, i have no more palette room in GALM, any suggestions anyone can give me (Tc?) would be appreciated.. i think i need about 20 more lol

well, just an update, or at least a little, i´m still working on, the one with the images posted here is gone... i´ve to remake it as low poly as i could, eventhough i´m still strugling to reduce the already reduced poly count. So i´m still working, slowly but with firm steps LOL
See you !!!!
