My 1024 version test installer released

Post by thunderchero »

Updated post:

Hi everyone,

I guess some of you guys can count thats all 5 races completed. :D

I have a test installer for vanilla 1.0.2 version only. (must be unedited no ships or anything)

First expect this file to be updated within the next couple weeks or sooner. So I suggest to create a backup of the stbof.res and trek.exe in a new folder. This way you can revert back to unedited version easily for updates (no uninstaller for this type of update). This should have all the files needed for german version as well as english. Just run the installer it will get the install path from the reg settings and detect if german is installed (it looks for german.snd).

This is mainly for testing and feedback.

BOTF_1.0.2_English_German_1024.exe

I hope everyone like what has been created here.

Hi Everyone,

I felt I was starting to clog up the 1024 project post, so I started a new post on my expanded vanilla version. Here is main and tech area previews.

Image

To get the larger ship preview area I introduced a larger version of the building/tech images (400x334 ****_c.tga)

let me know what you think.

Also be sure to thank QD for making this possible and all his support.

I think I am done with the cardassian GUI here are some previews

Once again I introduced a new image size (Modders are going to hate me) The image used in the build screen was 170x142 (***170.tga or i_***170.tga) now uses 270x225 the building already have an image this size so new ship images were created and named i_***_b.tga.

I don't plan on posting link to unfinished files but if you really want to take a peak send me a PM.

so what race next?

Wow, that's awesome. I went away for a few days, it's amazing to see so much progress. I might take on the Federation if you haven't started that one?

Oh yeah, one thing I noticed playing around is that the galaxy fog for unexplored territory doesn't cover the galaxy map after enlarging the WDF. The fog is stored in a TGA which needs resizing (*m_glmap.tga, i.e. cm_glmap.tga for the Cardies).

I dont know if I will use the large pics, mainly due to the way I have the shiplist wdf setup in my mod. Trying to make it so there is not endless scrolling, also that build queue looks a little empty (ugh why do I always have to nitpick things :()

the list would go almost to the image so it is almost twice as long as you see listed

Thats just your nature

Thanks QD,

I have sent you a PM. I also noticed the fog tga needs resizing but was waiting until final size is set. it looks like each race will be slightly different area possible lol.

Oh but I can triple that list by moving the widget up and extending it downward, remove the bottom Build List GUI, its not really needed (noone will notice it gone ;)). This would also make more room for the ship/building specs on the bottom right of build list.

I never notice this brown-blue circle icon in the cardassian GUI. Is it new? :-)

Beside awesome work QD & TC. Some of my dreams become true with your work. Next time I dream of winning a lottery jackpot. Perhaps it's the same like a new UDM with a mutch higher resulution and some newer dominion ship-crafts. Maybe some models from FleetOps.

Fed gui is looking exceptionally yummy, look at all those minor races ;)

Does the scroll bar scroll all the way down? I was unable to determine the 'notches' it follows, and I was never able to extend the scroll bar on the ship build list (no biggie I can live with it ;))
