Building minors ships after membership

I don't know if this has been addressed before but why can't you build the minor race ships after they join you?

I have edited topic name for this post,

To all coders could we change "built by" for ships, to "needed race on system"? The same way structure are?

If so this might allow majors to build minor ships when they are members?

I'd say yes. But systems with minors that have no ships would crash the game.

In that case it's very simple to do. :)

Go to 0xF3196 in trek.exe and change 8A 46 4C to 8A 46 44

But you also need to know that Botf will crash if at any time there are less than 2 ships available (I thought it was 1 but I was wrong).

If you have less than 2 ships in the list you'll get this error in crash.log:

File: scrllbar.c, Line: 288, minValue < maxValue

On the other hand adding a generic colony ship and troop transporter to every minor race is a must now, since you won't be able to build versions of your own empire in minor race systems.

I wonder if you subjagate a major race system, you should be able to build that majors ships :lol:

that sounds awesome. i already try do add ships to all minors but the mass of balancing all those stats wipe me :(

:?: I plan on testing once all ships have been entered (125 new id's)
on minors all discriptions are something like "This is a minor race raider. DO NOT TRANSLATE THIS TEXT."

So I ask can a discription be given to each ship? or would this be an option or required?

EDIT; Did some testing and descriptions for minors would be pointless due to they do not show in research screen.

and would making the computer identifying them as a race with their own ships stop them from building the major race ships?

These changes don't change AI behaviour, it only changes players selection of ships. The AI will still build only their own ships.
